Definition This is a full-time (Laborers and Helpers) position in the City's Internal Services Department, Building Maintenance Division. An individual in this position is responsible for performing comprehensive and routine maintenance on City buildings and facilities.
Reporting relationship: Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Examples of Work Supervises the building maintenance assistant(s); performs inspections of subordinates' work in-progress, insuring proper completion; Provide routine maintenance such as replacing air filters, belts, light bulbs, & fixtures (interior and exterior); repairing and/or painting or texturing walls; troubleshoots, orders and installs new parts in equipment needing repairs; Perform preventative maintenance on air conditioning units, exhaust fans, and other units; performs minor renovations; disassembles and installs office equipment; lay carpet and tiles; cut new doorways; and installs new doors and/or windows including hardware; Assist in major renovation projects; Support departments with special events; Perform other related duties as assigned; Subject to 24-hour recall.
Education, Experience, or Certification High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate and two (2) years of relevant professional experience required. Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college, university, vocational, business, or technical school preferred. Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions. Supplemental Information The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
