The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Army Guard Facilities Maintenance Office, is recruiting for a Building Maintenance Generalist Sub Journey 2 position!

This position is in the LTC bargaining unit and paid at range 56.

What you will be doing:

Would you like to provide assistance to others by performing the more routine, nonspecialized and repetitive tasks that do not require the more specialized skills. Basic tasks are performed independently and those of progressive difficulty are performed under direct supervision until your proficiency is demonstrated.

This level will require the application and demonstration of the knowledge and skills related to the materials and techniques of building maintenance and component sub-systems, and routine and preventive maintenance of mechanical, electrical and related systems. Work may be concentrated on one-well developed area performed under less close supervision, or a range of semi-skilled duties in one or more skilled trades.

The Facilities Management Office is located on the edge of JBER where you can enjoy walking on a three-mile trail surrounded by a natural setting, yet close to Eagle River and the Tikahtnu shopping district. It is common to see moose, fox, lync and bear.

Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, installation, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Clerical: Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, and using and completing forms

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check will include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access.

Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. Using a private vehicle will require a valid Alaska Driver's License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.
