The Edgewater Hotel, Seattle's only luxury waterfront hotel, is seeking an Utility Engineer to join our Engineering team!

The Building Maintenance Engineer will resolve issues for guest to AAA Four Diamond standards. This position will be the first response to all hotel maintenance and/or housekeeping service calls including, but not limited to, basic plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling system troubleshooting, fireplace trouble calls, etc.


  • Basic plumbing, electrical and mechanical aptitude

  • Must be very detailed oriented and have a professional demeanor


  • Customer service experience helpful

  • Prior hotel or similar industry experience a plus

  • Willingness to learn

  • Positive attitude while interacting with other departments and guests

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines to accomplish department goals

  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and written

  • Refrigeration Card is a plus, but not required


  • Sundays: 7:30 am
  • 3:30 pm
  • Monday
  • Thursday: 8am

  • 4pm

RATE OF PAY: $18.25 per hour

VIEW JOBS 10/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-14T00:00 Building Maintenance Engineer RESPONSIBILITIES: * You will be responsible for safe and efficient operation of all mechanical/ electrical/plumbing equipment, BAS controls, and distribution panels used to provide heat, air conditioning, ventilation and electrical power service as directed by the Regional Maintenance Director. * Monitors systems for potential problems (or existing problems) and formulates solutions in a proactive manner. * Provide tenants of Tower 12 with a high level of customer service by overseeing a maintenance team in the completion of resident request and make ready product. * Make repairs, adjustments and changes to HVAC and related equipment to maintain established policies and procedures not limited to the following: * Chiller and reheat system temperature adjustments. * Building environmental controls. * Outdoor air intake and exhaust systems. * Duct dampers and splitters. * Damper motors and operators. * Air handler motor, sheave, belt and pulley, service, repair and maintenance adjustments. * Related Fire Life Safety device interface and routine code compliance understanding. EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS: * Five (5) years minimum experience as an operator in a high-rise building. * Must have a solid understanding of the maintenance and operational routines of large mechanical equipment. * Must have working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. * Must have a thorough understanding of complex mechanical and electrical systems, including: pumps, motors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers and all air handling equipment. * Must have extensive experience with one of the major Direct Digital Control (DDC) control systems, preferably the ACCENT COMPASS by Allerton. * Experience with Seasonal HVAC Switchover and AON Air Handling System considered an asset. * First-hand knowledge of mechanical, plumbing and electrical installations and repair is required. * Knowledge of Variable Frequency Speed Drives, Hydronic Heating Operation and Heat Pumps System. * Experience in Collecting, testing and adding chemicals to the chilled, secondary, heating and condenser water, to control corrosion and bacterial levels. * Isolate and drain chilled water, condenser water, sprinkler, fire riser, hot water riser, and domestic water systems for contractors, building plumbers and mechanics, to perform maintenance on systems and refills same. * Must have experience managing a team in apartment maintenance EDUCATION / DESIGNATIONS / LICENSES: * High school diploma. * 4th Class Power Engineering or Building Operator A Certification. * A trade's background would be an asset. Weidner's level of service further requires the communication of a sincere desire to contribute to customer satisfaction by taking personal responsibility to resolve their concerns. Normal hours of work are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. however at times will require rotational shift work, overtime and on-call including evening, weekends and holidays. Weidner Seattle WA
