This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of the campus landscaping consisting of approximately 140 acres. The position directly supervises 12 employees and temporary workers as needed.
The duties of the subordinate employees are: grounds trash pick-up, trimming trees, mowing, edging, planting of seasonal flowers, work orders to relocated furnishing, snow and ice removal, fountain maintenance, maintenance of the turf and campus irrigation systems. The Grounds Unit has equipment that includes 9 gators, 4 vehicles, tractor and street sweeper. The Auto Shop responsibilities are also under the management of this position since the Auto Shop supervisor position was abolished several years ago due to budget constraints.
Therefore, this position supervises the Auto Shop mechanic as well. Relative tasks include: 1. Purchase Order Approval:
Consult with Auto Shop Technician on all purchase order requests. Determine if new purchase order is required. Submit all new PO requests.
Request all POs be closed once time and or money has been exalted. 2. Receipt Tracking: Keep a running check book of receipts related to the open purchase orders.
Submit check book to Budget Coordinator once PO has been exalted and request the PO be closed. 3. Manage Auto Shop Technician Time: Approve Auto Shop Technician time sheet in Banner.
Approve and submit all Leave Request forms for Auto Shop Technician. Coordinate training of Auto Shop Technician. 4. Supervision: Supervise Auto Shop Technician work.
Including quality of work, timeliness of work completed, neatness of shop area. 5. Safety: Managing safety aspects of Auto Shop Technician to include chalking tires, safety equipment being worn, and having the environment maintain in a safe condition. 6. Inventory: Managing yearly inventory paperwork.
Keep track of inventory throughout the year in random inventory checks. Spot checking inventory when purchased throughout the year for supplies and repairs. 7. Work Order Management:
Receives all work orders related to Auto Shop. Set standard on when work orders are completed. Check quality on work orders completed.
Submit finished work orders to Work Order Coordinator. 8. Supply Disposal: Coordinate the proper disposal of old parts to include tires and oil.
Coordinate that the supplies are recycled. High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require Certification or eligibility for Certification.
