This position when paired with Route driver, will be full time with benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.

  • Demonstrated attitude, ability to communicate with and support other staff members and students.

  • Ability to perform the performance responsibilities.

  • Demonstrated experience and/or training to be proficient in basic institutional custodian skills of restroom cleaning, carpet care, floor tile care, and sanitation.

  • Demonstrated ability to be an active, positive, supportive team member.

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and utilize dolly's and/or material movement aids to move heavy equipment and freight.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out annual and summer cleaning schedules.

  • Ability to conduct household repairs to buildings and grounds.

  • Such additions to the above qualifications as the Board and administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Facilities and building principal for building operations during the regular school year and for summer work situations and District-wide concerns.

JOB GOAL:

Serve as a member of the District's custodial team. To maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence and provide students with a safe, attractive, clean, and comfortable environment so they can take full advantage of the District's educational opportunities; to contribute to a positive school atmosphere by offering pleasant, accommodating custodial services for students and staff.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Appreciates the worth and dignity of each individual and treats each one with respect and tolerance.

  • Contributes to a strong District public relations program through courteous and service-oriented student, staff and public contact.

  • Manage behavior of students relative to the care of assigned facility and equipment in the absence of other supervisory personnel.

  • Cleans to ensure that facilities (e.g. cafeteria, classrooms, offices, restrooms, sidewalks, grounds, etc.) are maintained in a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.

  • Arranges furnishings and equipment (e.g. assembly, meetings, cafeteria for lunch, removing and moving furniture, etc.) for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, classroom activities and special events.

  • Prepares facility for daily operations (e.g. opening gates, raising flags, unlocking doors, turning off alarms, snow removal, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operational and safe for occupancy.

  • In conjunction with the building principal, coordinates work responsibilities and assigned areas.

  • Performs general household and job related maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture and fixtures (e.g. changes light bulbs, vacuum belts and bags, chair and table parts).

  • Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips, and waxes floors; including gym floors.

  • Scrubs and disinfects restrooms and/or locker rooms, including all sanitary fixtures, sinks, and drinking fountains as per cleaning schedule.

  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds.

  • Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.

  • Repairs minor sheetrock damage (e.g. patches, textures, paints).

  • Clears snow from entrances and walks, and spreads sand and/or ice melting products.

  • Performs grounds-keeping duties, clears debris and maintains grounds as needed.

  • Examines assigned facility and playground on a regular basis for needed maintenance and/or repairs.

  • Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly maintain facilities.

  • Receives supplies and equipment and maintains necessary inventories and delivers and stores appropriately.

  • In coordination with the building principal and the Director of Facilities, develops an efficient system for handling emergency repair problems and performs emergency services as necessary.

  • Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, alarms, graffiti, unauthorized individual, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues and maintaining a functioning educational environment.

  • Maintains such records as are required for efficient operation of assigned facility.

  • Participates in in-service training programs as requested.

  • Follows District policies and procedures.

  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Building Principle and/or Director of Facilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employed at-will. Salary, hours and length of employment determined as needed. May be eligible for benefits as outlined in the District's Administrative Regulations/Operational Procedures.

This position requires a pre-employment background check and drug test.

Position will remain open until a suitable applicant if found.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by Building Principal and/or Director of Facilities.
