DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning, dusting, sweeping, washing, buffing, and waxing floors, washing windows, polishing wood working, changing light bulbs, sweeping walks, removing snow and ice, caring for custodial equipment, emptying waste baskets, collecting trash and recycling, operating low pressure heating and ventilation systems and performing carpentry/maintenance repairs.
Install window screens and storm sashes as needed, checks on safety applications, fire extinguishers, etc.
Raises and lowers flag daily.
May requisition, receive and store supplies for building maintenance.
May lift heavy objects.
Performs any and other related duties as assigned.
This position is a "float" position, meaning the appointed person can be assigned to more than one building at a time.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS.
High school diploma or equivalency required.
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the overall maintenance of buildings and grounds; training in construction or facilities work preferred.
Ability to recognize the existence of fire and safety hazards and to take appropriate preventative measures; ability to recognize and make building repairs.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Ability to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, and to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, sit, stand, climb stairs, and climb ladders up to 40'.
Must possess a valid Massachusetts Class D driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
Must pass Massachusetts CORI and subject to federal finger printing.
REMARKS:
Quincy Public Employees Association position.
Salary determined through QPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Position is 40 hours per week with potential for overtime.
