This position performs general and specialized oversight of the Building Code Enforcement function, staffing and programs including the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code enforcement and Building Occupancy Evaluations. This position is responsible for monitoring and delivering targeted performance outcomes; training, mentoring, and evaluating personnel; evaluating and improving business processes and procedures; participating as a member of the management team within the Division; participating as a co-leader of the multi-divisional Code Compliance Team, and similar duties related to supervising the code enforcement process and personnel.

About This Role:
Performs technical supervisory functions including providing guidance and support, setting goals, preparing, and administering performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
Active participant in the Branch's Management Team and the Branch's Multi-Divisional Code Compliance Team.
Delegation of authority in Branch Managers absence to oversee the Branch when needed.
Attends, participates, and represents the Department at Development Services at Special Project Committee meetings with Branch Manager or on Branch Manager's behalf.
Interpret, apply, and carry out intended meaning and purpose of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code as it relates to ensuring Code compliance for the safety of all the people that work, live, and visit Prince William County
Evaluate and determine if staff has carried out delegated authority and work responsibility regarding Code Enforcement as defined and expected.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 5 years of related (job-related legal, enforcement or building experience in residential, commercial, and/or industrial construction) experience.

Preferences:
Knowledge of applicable State codes, laws, rules, and regulations.
Knowledge of applicable legal methods and procedures relating to laws, ordinances, and attention to detail
Possesses the ability to ensure appropriate alignment between assignments and organizational policies and objectives.
Experience assigning/delegating work to subordinate employees
Troubleshoot problems and issues and educating others in relevant policies and procedures.
Work Schedule:
Monday
Friday, 8:00am
4:30pm or 7:30am
4:00pm, with one-hour lunch.
Special Requirements:
Valid Driver's License; must become certified as a Technical Assistant to the Building Code Official
Starting Salary Range:
70,921.50 - $100,718.55
