The University of Texas Permian Basin's Residence Life/Dining Service welcomes applications for the position of Building Attendant

Salary Range

$32,000.00 Depending on Qualifications

Campus Housing and Meal Plan are also provided

Essential Functions

The Building Attendant is a mid-level maintenance position. The incumbent would be expected to perform general repair and maintenance of housing and dining facilities to include traditional residence hall building, apartment style buildings, and dining hall. Mandatory on call rotation is required.

1.Perform various maintenance duties in all crafts including but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, and HVAC

2.Occasional HVAC filter changes

3.Replace light bulbs and ballasts

4.Maintain mechanical room cleanliness

5.Occasional painting and drywall patching

6.Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner

7.Mandatory on call rotation. On Call rotation changes on a weekly basis

Required Qualifications

1.High School Diploma or GED equivalency.

2.Three (3) years experience in general maintenance.

3.Possess organizational skills and able to communicate effectively.

4.Possess a clean and valid Texas driver's license for at least three (3) years.

5.Possesses dexterity, lifting capacity (up to 50lbs), and ability to walk up to 100% of the time in accordance with job demands.

6.Ability to follow safety precautions. Job may entail moderate exposure to chemical, environmental, and various other hazards that require strict adherence to procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Five (5) years experience in general maintenance

2.Experience in residence hall or multi occupant facility

3.Experience in dining/restaurant general maintenance.

4.Combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired

5.Able to read, write, and comprehend English as well as perform basic mathematical computations.

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.

3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.

4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.

5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.

6.Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation
