Job Summary:

Cirrus Aircraft is seeking a motivated, result driven, and highly detail orientated Build Team Manager. The primary role of this candidate will be to lead a diverse team of Experimental technicians focusing on composites bonding and assemblies to develop new products and assist in the implementation into production. The person who successfully fills this role must be comfortable in a very dynamic environment and possess strong leadership skills that actively demonstrate and enforce a culture of accountability. This person will have no direct reports but will be responsible for supervising employees through a dotted line organizational structure ensuring that project goals are met.

The position will report to an Experimental Platform Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee composite build area for Experimental aircraft and test article manufacturing.

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Engineering to maintain the timeliness and accuracy of aircraft and test article manufacturing and documentation.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work orders and clarify for technicians when needed.

  • Assist Engineering platform manager in workload planning and scheduling to ensure that high level program milestones are met.

  • Drive towards continuous improvement and development of core competencies, and performance.

  • Provide weekly department updates and other group efforts as requested.

  • Assist with transitioning new products from Experimental build to a robust production line.

  • Aid in the setup and layout of new production tooling and equipment.

  • Ensure a safe work environment and culture.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Strong organizationally with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Works equally well independently or in a cross functional team environment.

  • In depth knowledge of composite manufacturing techniques including bonding, prepreg and wet layup, trim and drill, repairs.

  • Experience using tools, machines and equipment typically found in a composite fabrication area.

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and resolve issues in a short time frame.

  • Efficient at continuous product improvement, problem solving, and design of Experimental efforts.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, etc.).

  • Experience with CAD/CAM and MES software preferred.

  • 5-10 years prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Aviation experience preferred but not required.

You'll begin working a flexible part-time schedule in the fall as you ramp up for the busy tax season, then transition to a full-time schedule from January through April.
