The Budget Analyst performs program and budget scheduling and planning including preparing recommendations for program objectives and resource requirements. Moreover, this position provides budgetary analysis for cost-cutting issues, program development, and other monetary fund management functions.
Assists with planning and execution of annual budget across all Housing Cost Centers. Prepares financial reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis including financial trend and budget variance analyses.
Works independently in the collection, reconciliation and analyzation of data to assist in forecasting and revenue projections for the department. Assists with the approval of housing transactions in Workday in line with budgetary constraints Identifies and analyzes fluctuations in initial forecasts and makes recommendations for adjustments as necessary. Research, review and/or revise discrepancies amongst Housing accounts.
Analyzes spending trends and provides recommendations to meet priority requirements. Assist in year-end close process by reviewing transactions and/or making correction entries as necessary, adhering to entry deadlines set forth by Central Budget Office. Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and provides supplemental guidance to the Department as needed.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Provides direct support to the Senior Finance Manager for Housing and Residential Life operationally and with other projects as needed.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting and budget.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.
Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
