Position Details

Budgeting, Administration, and Finance at The University of Tampa has an opening for a Budget Analyst. This position is responsible for assisting in the management of the University's operating budget under the guidance of the Vice President of Administration and Finance and the Assistant Vice President of Budget.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Assistant Vice President of Budget in budgetary planning, development, and analysis.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of the University's operating budget requests.
  • Contribute to creating the annual campus budget process and timeline, as well as compiling and analyzing submitted budgetary information.
  • Prepare statistical analyses of revenue and expenditure data to support budget evaluations and projections.
  • Collaborate with department heads to review and analyze budgetary expenditures, ensuring alignment with resources and University priorities.
  • Integrate and execute the budget within Workday.
  • Monitor budget-to-actuals within Workday to verify proper expenditure postings and departmental budget compliance.
  • Develop complex financial reports for forecasting and analysis of results.
  • Review and update internal budgeting procedures as needed.
  • Facilitate and deliver budget training sessions for other operational areas within the University.
  • Serve as a backup to the Assistant Vice President of Budget, as needed.
  • Serve as a backup to the Workday Analyst (Finance), as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality across all responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to a work environment that fosters respect for and skills in engaging with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited university (preferred).
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in budgeting, accounting, or managing fiscal services such as budget development, forecasting, or financial data analysis; experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Workday Financials, Workday Student Financials, and Workday Adaptive Planning is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of an administrative team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with faculty, students, support staff, and administrators.
  • Proficiency in interpreting, analyzing, summarizing, and presenting financial information.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and successfully complete multiple tasks.
  • Initiative, strong work ethic, and exceptional customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills to ensure report deadlines are met.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Openness to new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
