The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Public Health and Safety Division.

This position monitors state and federal budgets and related fiscal operations to ensure adequate support for current and planned program operations for the Healthy Lifestyles and Living Well Sections. Responsibilities of this position include: 1) Designing, developing, and maintaining budget systems, policies, and methods for programs to follow; 2) Oversee and review the development, monitoring, and management of contracts for goods and services to ensure project outcomes are met within budget and regulatory constraints; 3) Coordinate and complete purchasing of goods and services relevant for section business.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles [GAAP].

  • Ability to understand state and federal rules and regulations related to fiscal and budgetary management.

  • Ability to identify and solve problems.

  • Meet minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or related field.

  • Six months of job-related experience in finance, auditing, or accounting.

  • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered.

  • Preferred

  • Experience/knowledge of contract and grant administration.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.50 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2024.

This position is open until filled with frequent screening of applicants. The first screening of candidates will take place on April 8, 2024.
