Job Description:

Bastion Technologies Inc. is looking for a NASA Software Reliability Engineer to support the Safety & Mission Assurance (S&MA) Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The Software Reliability Engineer will be responsible for the following activities in support of programs across the MSFC and primarily the Space Launch System (SLS) program: Software Assurance (SA) analyses and assessments related to quality, reliability, and safety; review and analysis of engineering design concepts and software assurance plans and assuring compliance with NASA safety polices and standards for hardware and software.

The successful candidate will use his or her strong embedded software background, software safety expertise, management experience and NASA domain experience to evaluate target programs to ensure safety and mission success, to lead a growing team of engineers performing software assurance tasks, to plan and manage those tasks, and will serve as the primary Bastion point of contact to the customer for software reliability analysis. Occasional travel may be required. Work is performed at the NASA MSFC in Huntsville, Alabama and will require frequent interaction with multiple external and internal customers.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree required- in/or Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering. A Master's Degree preferred

  • 10-15 Years of Experience

  • Must be a US citizen

  • Must be able to pass a national agency check

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and periodic random drug and alcohol screening

Experience with IEEE 1633 Recommended Practices for Software Reliability to include familiarity with software reliability plans, defect density and reliability growth models.

Experience with development of large, complex, safety-critical software systems

Experience across the software development life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, and test) and the entry and exit criteria associated with Program/Project milestone reviews

Familiarity with software architectures and systems & software engineering practices

Experience developing and/or evaluating FMEA, Hazard Analysis, and FTA products

Experience with NASA, Government approved Industry, or DoD software assurance requirements, standards, manuals and handbooks, and assessing compliance with these products

Experience performing software quality, reliability, safety, and testing activities related to embedded software systems

Excellent verbal and written English language skills, good communication skills, and ability to interact well in group meeting/working environments with team members, development organizations and customers

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance

Other Desired Skills:

Experience and familiarity with NASA flight programs involving Humanrelated spacecraft / launch vehicle systems and domains such as rocket engine propulsion control; flight dynamics; vehicle system management; fault protection / fault management; launch, flight, and abort operations / processes; software safety; and mission assurance

Familiarity with Mil-STD-882

Experience reviewing and/or developing Software Assurance Plans, Software Requirements Specifications, and Software Test Plans

Experience witnessing software testing and demonstrations, and performing SQA audit

Experience or knowledge of SEI Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) implementations

Experience with complex electronics (e.g. ASICs, FPGAs) and programmable logic devices

Familiarity with Agile software development processes

Experience with NASA-STD 8739.8 and NASA-STD 8719.13 and the identification of safety critical software requirements and analysis of related design concepts

Position requires a competent communicator (verbal and written) with ability to work harmoniously and effective with co-workers, Bastion Management and all levels of customer personnel. Required to be regular in attendance (per agreed to work hours schedule), consistently punctual and be relied upon to successfully complete all assignments.

The electrical specialist will be a part of the facility operations team and will be responsible for being the electrical system technical operations expert. The candidate will need to be experienced in the following critical systems: power distribution ranging from 13.2kV to 120VAC and associated controls systems, UPS systems, DC Power, low voltage and fire alarm, and have a working knowledge of mechanical systems. RESPONSIBILITIES * Serve as technical/consultative resource of electrical infrastructure systems and equipment. Hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment. Assist in authoring processes, procedures and reporting metrics. Analyze data to assist development of predictive maintenance plan. On-site lead for root-cause analysis activities in area of expertise. Travel to other data center regions. Provide training to Critical Facility Engineers on electrical equipment and procedures. Manage vendor relationships for electrical equipment. Perform any additional services needed to meet the requirements of the facility in support of maintenance functions. Ability to travel up to 20% of time. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Working knowledge of critical facility operations. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments. Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings. 7+ years SME Journeyman level experience. Trade certification or state license in subject matter area. High school diploma or GED. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * 7+ years' experience in a data center or other critical environment.
