The Project Engineer Active Thermal Control System (ATCS) will support the JETS II contract supporting NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work alongside project personnel during processing of hardware.
Identify and procure appropriate test and project hardware as required.
Review test requirements, plans, and procedures for operation of test articles.
Work alongside facility personnel during system assembly and test operations.
Perform failure troubleshooting and resolution as needed.
Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheet (TPS),
Discrepancy Report (DR), Test Plans, and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP)
Work in a team environment and report to a project lead/manager to provide status on progress and issues and for support.
Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
Provide written and oral statuses in the form of presentations or reports and represent the Thermal Systems Manager at program and engineering boards.
Coordinate with vendors on manufacturing problems and issue resolution.
Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED:

This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.
Understand basic principles of thermal/fluid systems and their operations.
Able to distill and format large amounts of data and identify trends and patterns.
Effective at leading meetings, both virtual and in-person, developing and driving an agenda, resolution to issues, taking minutes and actions, and following up to closure.
Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
DESIRED:
Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria.
Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space thermal control systems
Acceptance and Verification testing experience.
Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
