The Job

The CW Network seeks a Broadcast Planning & Distribution Administrator for the Finance & Administration department. Position creates, plans and distributes promotional plan and broadcast logs to distribution partners and affiliates across the country for The CW Television Network.

The Daily

  • Help manage the facility inventory database.

  • Archiving of broadcast logs.

  • Fill all streaming promotion avails and distribute list to necessary parties based on network priorities.

  • Builds and prepares broadcast logs including verifying all local affiliate time for each broadcast day.

  • Independently process all program timings for their programs on assigned day(s) of the week. Work with the respective post-production team on any discrepancies. Filing in our department general filing drawer is necessary in case of repeats.

  • IF a live broadcast falls on their assigned day(s) of the week: responsible for watching the broadcast as it airs in its entirety and be prepared to alert CW Air Control and the affiliate body of timing issues. This would include blasting out actual local hit times to the West Coast affiliates before the start of the next broadcast.

  • Regularly review programs on your assigned broadcasts to know what is happening and things needed to adjust your upcoming broadcasts.

  • Process, plan and place all marketing elements within each broadcast log assigned. This requires working with all the other departments in the company including but not limited to: On Air Scheduling, NY Ad Sales, NY Traffic, Branded Entertainment, On Air Promotion, Acquisitions, Media Planning, Social/Digital Planning, and Broadcast Standards & Practices.

  • Required daily understanding of all the happenings within the marketing department and creative options for use.

  • Create, plan, implement and distribute all network graphic elements including the Branded Entertainments elements, local "CWipe" positions, as well as network promotion and the like.

  • Review the completion of each broadcast log assigned for missing elements.

  • Work with and keep the Executive Director abreast of any issues regarding broadcast delays or issues. Executive Director must approve all logs before broadcast unless other arrangements have been made.

  • Distribute approved broadcast logs to the distribution partners as needed: Marketing, CBS Program Coordination, CBS Op Sheet, CBS Broadcast Ops, Branded Entertainment, CW Air Control and the affiliate base.

  • Process air formats and rundowns from CBS and redistribute logs as needed. Copy and replace production timings with corrected air formats.

  • Create and distribute Timing Breakdown Sheets for PR's social and digital needs.

  • Process final promotional log and distribute to CW Marketing Post Production

  • Distribute Final Broadcast Logs when all final pieces have received.

  • Receive Irregularity Reports, BS&P approved broadcast reports and As Run Reports in order to complete the broadcast file.

  • File completed broadcast file.

  • Manager is to maintain Iron Mountain Archive System for past broadcast logs.

  • Back up other members of the team in times of absence if necessary.

  • May be asked to be reached during off hours in order to solve a necessary issue with broadcast.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Essentials

  • BA/BS in related field preferred but not required.

  • Must have PC skill: Microsoft Office, necessary, STBS Traffic System, preferred.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills.

  • General knowledge of time, i.e:hours minutes and seconds required.

  • Must have knowledge of film/video timing incriments (acts, frames, end credits).

  • Must have knowledge of basic math, spelling, grammar, and English usage.

  • Must have excellent proofreading skills

  • Must have the ability to pay close attention to details and understand verbal and written instruction.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with managers, affiliates, clients, and colleagues.

  • Must be able to perform math/time calculations

  • Must have the ability to work well under time constraints.

  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Must be able to resolve problems in a professional manner.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Must be able to work with occasional interruptions.

  • Must communicate an attitude of professionalism and keen awareness to task at hand and surroundings.
