This DTCI Media Engineering position for a full time Broadcast Maintenance Engineer will directly support, on-site, the 24/7 WDTV Cable Networks origination and distribution facility in Burbank. This demanding role requires highly focused attention to detail so the persistent uptime of our linear media networks is maintained. Primary responsibilities include minute-to-minute support of a multi-network broadcast environment, live events, preventative maintenance, and active troubleshooting of data center performance of multi-cast feeds.

The Broadcast Maintenance Engineer is also responsible for limited, off-hour support of the Building and Facilities, alerting facilities, security and leadership when necessary. This includes functional knowledge and monitoring of Building technical power, HVAC cooling and Fire-Life Safety systems. Furthermore, the Engineer will be engaged with management for broadcast and emerging technology projects that drive content in new and innovative ways to our consumers.

The business unit requires on-premise 24/7 Engineering support of our Burbank Origination Facility and direct remote support of two data centers (NAP7 and King's Mountain). This role is the first responder triage for traditional and over-the-top WDTV cable networks that represent commercial and subscriber revenue for TWDC. This role is also direct triage for the ABC Owned and Affiliated OTTO Platform. Role is direct support for the WDTV business unit in Burbank Center for live events and off hour building support and escalation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven track record of experience in a broadcast or similar Engineering role involving maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, of an equivalent multi-network broadcast environment involving play-to-air systems in both HD legacy baseband (SDI) and H.264 TS IP.

  • Experience with video servers, storage systems, and a master control environment.

  • IP Networking knowledge and understanding required to support Remote Data Center Cloud Playback systems running on virtual applications servers.

  • Experience with play-to-air automation systems such as ADC-100, iTX or Mediator.

  • Knowledge of Digital SD & HD Video, including routing, distribution, and processing technology.

  • Knowledge of AES and Embedded Digital Audio processing, including Dolby 5.1 formats, loudness control, and level measurement technology.

  • Knowledge and understanding of SCTE 35 and 104 splice messages.

  • Prior experience with multi display processor viewers using both IP and Baseband Video sources.

  • Knowledge and understanding of MPEG compression and transport stream analysis tools.
