WUSA-TV has an excellent opportunity for an experienced and energetic Morning Executive Producer. The ideal candidate has impeccable news judgment, is adept at producing breaking news with impact, and is equally experienced creating compelling morning show lifestyle, human interest and community content. You're a proven, dependable leader who lives to motivate and inspire those around you. You pivot quickly and stay cool when things get tough. You anticipate challenges before they happen, and always have a backup plan ready to go. You have a deep passion for local journalism and making an impact in the communities we serve. Building relationships is your superpower. This is not an entry-level role. Previous medium-to-large market, or network or cable, morning show experience is a must.
Work closely with Morning News Director to continually elevate Get Up DC
Oversee morning newscasts and digital to make sure they align with the station's brand and strategic plan
Lead a team of producers on daily story selection, writing, and showcasing
Lead morning team in breaking news, big coverage and live coverage scenarios
Encourage innovation and smart risk-taking
Edit and approve scripts for both TV and Digital
Use consumer analytics in determining content
Be the direct supervisor for morning show producers
Give regular feedback to morning show producers, write and deliver annual performance reviews
Schedule morning show producers, approve time-off requests
5+ years experience producing, line producing, or Executive Producing medium-to-large market, national, cable, or syndicated morning news
Proven ability to be an idea-generator and innovator
Proven ability and experience leading and motivating a team of anchors, reporters, producers, and production staff
Proven track record creating multi-platform content for social and digital audiences
Strong understanding of and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.
Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, editing and content management systems a plus
Organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
Ability to be in weekend on-call manager rotation
BA/BS college degree or related experience
