Summary:

Lead the delivery of 8K+ immersive productions for some of the world's most prominent live sports and entertainment events. Oversee the technical operations and key systems within our LA-based REMI broadcast facility. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team striving to become the global leader in immersive entertainment, where you can make a real impact. Contribute to the evolution of immersive production, enhancing the viewing experience for sports fans across the globe. With teams located across the U.S. and internationally, this role will join the Video Technology team based in LA. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within the fast-paced schedule of live events, including nights and weekends. As the final point of quality assurance, you will collaborate with field engineers to ensure our 8K+ broadcasts consistently meet our CosmWorthy standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the delivery of remote immersive production workflows at resolutions of 8K and beyond.

  • Setup, QC, and monitor immersive live stream content via REMI workflows out of the Playa Vista facility.

  • Help triage issues with field engineers at arenas as well as venue operators remotely.

  • Implement new REMI production workflows that allow lighter operation lift and more remote operations.

  • Assist in integration of existing and future system technologies

  • Work closely with production teams and other technical departments to ensure that the operational needs of Cosm Immersive and its production partners are met effectively.

  • Proactively prevent any interruption to live programs and ensure that any technical faults are resolved quickly, or alternative solutions implemented, so that live operations are not impacted.

  • Accommodate a schedule that includes nights and weekends to support broadcast event hours.

  • Ability to install/monitor broadcast equipment including switchers, routers, recorders, GFX, encoders, network, etc. that are built with cutting edge technology in mind.

  • Engineers must have demonstrated competency in a wide variety of technology and business contexts, and are the organization's most versatile, deployable resources.

Experience:

  • At least three years' engineering experience in a live broadcast environment.

  • Training and qualifications relevant to broadcast engineering with focus on bleeding edge technology

  • Comprehensive appreciation and detail-oriented mindset towards end-to-end production processes and a good understanding of the live transmission chain in a broadcast environment.

  • A positive, enthusiastic manner with the ability to react tactfully and sympathetically to requests from production staff and clients.

  • Knowledge and experience of vision, sound, routing, communication, and computer systems as they relate to a television studio or broadcast environment.

  • Excellent trouble shooting and technical diagnostic skills.

  • Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and solving complex technical problems and being able to work independently and autonomously in a team-based environment is a must.

  • Able to make a critical assessment of television pictures and waveforms as necessary.

  • Able to monitor/report on the progress of tasks in a constructive and appropriate manner.

  • Good knowledge of file-based formats, workflows, and technologies.

  • Good understanding of networking infrastructure.

  • Experience writing clear documentation for projects.

  • Effective communication and good problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and to remain calm under pressure.

  • Must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and organized.

The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $90,000 to $120,000. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
