Position is physically located at Deer Creek High School

Primary Function of Position:

Responsible for teaching a performance-based instructional program in Interactive Media. Prepares students for entry into college and the workforce. Provides class instruction in accordance with the course program content. Oversees all general management of instruction for high school students at Deer Creek High School. Responsible for development and revision of course content, equipment selection, instructional materials and teaching assignments. Assists students in setting career goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teaches students using individualized, project and performance-based instruction methodologies consistent with effective teaching practices. Utilizes a variety of instructional delivery techniques. Evaluates student achievement based on objective tests, performance tests, simulations, and projects.

  • Organizes and implements instructional activities conducive to student learning. Develops curricula to implement a project and performance-based instructional program. Ensures curriculum delivery meets Francis Tuttle guidelines and procedures.

  • Organizes and implements instructional activities to promote a climate conducive to effective learning.

  • Maintains accurate student records including attendance, grades, disciplinary action and academic progress using school approved methods and tools and as required by district and state within identified timeframe.

  • Maintains parent contact with high school students to discuss progress. Assists in placing qualified students seeking employment and in completing job placement reports.

  • Develops and maintains an active program Advisory Committee to ensure positive business and industry relationships and program marketability.

  • Participates in the school's Pathway to Excellence initiative to prepare students to be college and career ready. Completes annual follow-up reports as required by the district.

  • Sponsors a local student organization chapter of Business Professionals of America.

  • Works with students and employers in occupational settings, on-the-job training, internships, and similar work-related situations as needed.

  • Maintains professional competence and participates in school committees and in career technology education professional organizations.

  • Ability to be present on the job as described under working conditions and contract details.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor degree in Business or related field highly preferred.

  • Must be eligible to apply for provisional/alternative teacher certification or have a valid teaching certificate in Business Education from the State of Oklahoma. Business Education certification, vocational credential, industry certifications and prior teaching experience preferred.

  • Three to five (3-5) years prior industry experience in the field of video production.

  • Working knowledge of video/sound editing and video production.

  • Must be familiar with a Mac and PC environment.

  • Experience in education, working with teams and/or training is preferred.

  • Ability to cultivate, build and maintain strong long-term working relationships with individuals or organizations with diverse perspectives and backgrounds, adopting practices that promote diversity and equity, consequently maximizing opportunities for student engagement and motivation.

  • Ability to effectively communicate.

Working Conditions: Long periods of sitting, ability to lift 10-25 lbs; low-level machine noise is encountered the majority of every day; concentrated visual effort is required; extensive communication with internal and external customers.

Organizational Relationship: Full-time, exempt certified instructional position reports directly to the Director of Information Technology. Evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy.

Contract Details: Ten-month, temporary contract. The position will be a temporary contract position for the 2024-2025 academic year only. This position will not be renewed for the 2025-2026 academic year. Working day and hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. May require summer training.

Francis Tuttle offers a comprehensive benefit package for full-time employment to include paid health and dental insurance, a supplemental benefit compensation in the amount of four hundred sixty-five dollars per month, employee leave plan with family friendly work calendar, and 100% contribution into Oklahoma Teachers Retirement System.

This range represents individuals who are fully experienced and qualified, demonstrate sustained performance for a period of time and exhibit full proficiency in all aspects of their role.
