This is a full-time position that supports the Bridge to Success Program. The Bridge Program provides students with a supported start to CSI. The program introduces students to higher education's academic expectations and helps them develop a sense of belonging. The coordinator will foster student success from admissions through post-secondary credential completion.

The coordinator will work collaboratively with Bridge students to support, encourage, and empower them to become knowledgeable, independent, and confident in their educational opportunities at CSI. They will focus on student advising, retention, and credential completion and assist with the coordination of the program's activities and outcomes.

Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer software (Microsoft Office) skills are essential. The coordinator must be team and student oriented, enthusiastic, and passionate about student success. They will advocate the value of postsecondary education, including workforce training, CTE, and apprenticeships, to help students achieve individual education goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Play a pivotal role in the implementation and importance placed on a student's Sense of Belonging and student life experiences at the College of Southern Idaho.

  • Promote and encourage student participation in the Bridge Program.

  • Serve as a role model to Bridge to Success students as you provide guidance and support.

  • Handle student inquiries with accurate information and appropriate referrals to personnel in the areas of admissions, records, financial aid and scholarships, Counseling Services, Learning & Tutoring Commons, Campus Testing, Student Activities, Student Housing, Student Access Services, faculty and other on campus as well as off campus connections.

  • Assist students in setting academic goals for themselves now and beyond college.

  • Show students how to navigate their MyCSI account, Canvas, and other CSI applications.

  • Assist students in identifying and overcoming obstacles that impede academic success while helping students focus on individual goals and identify steps in reaching those goals.

  • Maintain and manage a student caseload of Bridge advisees. Document and monitor student progress in the student information system. Structure collaborative relationships with assigned advisees.

  • Understand and comply with the college catalog, policies, and procedures.

  • Assist advisees as they acquire knowledge of available campus resources; encourage student personal growth and self-fulfillment; and cultivate decision-making skills as they plan and make informed decisions regarding educational and career goals.

  • Apply a proactive advising model and best practices to effectively problem-solve advising issues. Research effective advising models and attend trainings, webinars, events, meeting to stay current.

  • Ability to effectively use technology and software to navigate assignments with students.

  • Foster, monitor, and report on Bridge student retention through various activities and events.

  • Monitor student progress to degree completion and offer intervention services for at-risk students.

  • Plan, implement, and assess the delivery of success and retention activities and programming.

  • Design and deliver presentations to various audiences (workshops, program information, tours, etc) Participate in program activities and interact with students.

  • Prepare weekly program data reviews to provide to Bridge Senior Coordinator.

  • Maintain student confidentiality and records following office, college, and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies.

  • Communicates effectively with students and staff in both oral and written communication.

  • Accept and perform, in a timely and effective manner, work assignments that are outside the normal routine.

  • This position requires a dependable, flexible, organized, and friendly team member answering emails, phone calls and greeting students.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Performs additional related duties as assigned by supervisor

SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERED

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish (preferred).

  • Able to maintain confidentiality with all matters.

  • Organized and detail oriented. Able to follow through with tasks in a timely manner.

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Self-motivation to take assignments and carry them through from initial stages to completion with little supervision.

  • A strong service orientation or desire to meet people's needs, handle challenging situations and provide customer service and promote teamwork within the department, the college and community.

  • Has respect for the opinions of others and behaves in such a way to ensure a professional atmosphere of respect and trust.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and public relations skills to meet people courteously and to work with all ages and socioeconomic groups.

  • Maintain a dependable and reliable work schedule.

  • Experience with technology and Microsoft Office software/products.

  • Flexibility and a willingness to attend and receive additional training to improve skills.

EDUCATION / TRAINING

  • Associate degree or some college from a regionally accredited university, and equivalent experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Must be flexible with work schedule and willing to work occasional nights and weekends especially during peak periods.

  • Must be willing to travel during registration periods to area advising/recruitment events.

  • General office environment in a heavily active area.
