Team Member Expectations

Bridge Foreman

Team member will have 3+ years experience as a bridge foreman. A working knowledge of bridge construction and all the associated facets of bridge construction are also required.

• High level of skill in form carpentry, concrete finishing, pile driving, construction equipment used in bridge construction and rigging concepts

• Familiar with NCDOT specifications

• General understanding of construction surveying

Core Duties:

• Be punctual, dependable and professional at all times

• Work with cost effectiveness, profitability and safety in mind

• Lead by example

• Lead the safety effort by recognizing and correcting hazards as soon as they are present. Be the #1 safety advocate for your crew

• Basic arithmetic skills: ability to calculate concrete/stone/asphalt needs.

• High level of skill in form carpentry, concrete finishing, pile driving and rigging.

• Plan the anticipated work of the crew one day in advance

• Notify superintendent of equipment and material needs for the next week

• Identify tasks that need to be done and assign team members to support effort

• Work with/train team members who show potential and share this information with the superintendent

• Notify superintendent of assistance needed for layout work that is beyond your comfort level

• Work closely with the owner's representative, site inspectors and any other project personnel to keep him/her informed of your work plans.

• Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities

• Willingness to work hours as required

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred

• Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with jobsite supervisors and fellow team members

• Minimum of 5 years prior experience working in bridge construction

Education/Training/Certification:

• OSHA Supervisor Training

• Rigger

• Signal Person

• Trenching and Shoring Competent Person

• First Aid/CPR

• Forklift
