Moffatt & Nichol is searching for a Structural Engineer with 10+ years consulting engineering experience on transportation structures projects such as Highway and Rail bridges and overpasses to build this group in our Orlando Office

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Direct responsibility on all bridge projects accomplished by the local M&N team

  • Responsibility for Quality Assurance, Quality Control and all technical aspects of the deliverable

  • Development or assisting in the development of project scope, schedule, and budget

  • Subsequent adhering to the scope, schedule, and budget

  • Coordination with the marine structures lead located in the Savannah office

  • Look for opportunities to integrate staff working on marine and transportation structures

  • Accomplishing projects at a high level of quality

  • Delivering projects to the high satisfaction of the client

  • Work integrally with the M&N Florida leadership to:

  • Identify potential new markets/clients/pursuits

  • Develop go/no-go decisions on those markets/clients/pursuits

  • Develop a marketing strategy including the establishment of reasonable budgets for the markets/clients/pursuits

  • Writing/coordinating technical proposals

  • Coordinate regularly with the firmwide structural practice (Transportation Director and Structures Discipline Leader)

  • Integrate technical expertise as needed

  • Assist the firm in pursuing and performing work in other states in the southeast in mid-Atlantic.

The position is expected to echo the firm's widely-held beliefs and culture within, and thread the elements of the M&N family through the fabric of the local team, resulting in a tight-knit group of M&N structural consultants.

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in bridge engineering and design using FDOT standards

  • Bachelor's degree is required, a Master's degree in structural engineering or related discipline is desired

  • Registered Professional Civil Engineer in Florida

  • Proficient in SAP, VBridge, VBent, LPile, and XTract computer software

  • Familiar with FDOT bridge design specifications

  • Familiar with structural rehabilitation projects as well as new construction

  • Ability to work in a team environment is essential

  • Additional design experience with other states and with load rating of bridges preferred
