Department Description UCSF Medical Center's blood disorder specialists provide the best care possible for patients with acute and chronic blood conditions, including blood-related cancers, marrow failure, anemias, and bleeding and clotting disorders. The diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders can be emotionally and physically challenging, and we are dedicated to providing patients with the highest quality health care and support. UCSF is a leader in blood and bone marrow transplants for a wide range of blood disorders. Our group is also home to the UCSF Hemophilia Treatment Center, a state and federally designated comprehensive treatment center for patients with bleeding disorders. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced NP to join our dynamic and expanding program. This NP will be based in our outpatient clinic, and will collaborate in the care of patients being evaluated, diagnosed and treated for hematologic malignancies. Required Qualifications * Two years experience in an outpatient or inpatient adult hematology program, or a combination of relevant experience * One year experience as an advanced practice nurse at an academic medical center * Active Nurse Practitioner licensure in the State of California * Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California * Active American Heart Association CPR Certification * Active NP Furnishing License * Active and/or transferable DEA License to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice; it is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA License to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer * Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work * Completed a recognized graduate Master's Degree program as a Nurse Practitioner * Submitted enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day; CCS enrollment as appropriate for Pediatric environments * State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice * Demonstrated competence in the following areas: clinical practice, communication, clinical case management, leadership/problem identification/resolution, and teaching * The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations Preferred Qualifications * Three years experience in adult oncology, or a combination of relevant experience * Two years RN experience in adult hematology/BMT Licensure/Certification * Active Nurse Practitioner licensure in the State of California * Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California * Active American Heart Association CPR Certification * Active NP Furnishing License * Active and/or transferable DEA License to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice; it is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA License to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer * Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work UCSF Medical Center requires all Advanced Practice Providers (APP) to be credentialed through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governances (OMAG) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Medical Center sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days and must be completed prior to the first working day. Exhibits team work skills to positively acknowledge and recognize other colleagues, and uses personal experiences to model and teach Living PRIDE standards. * Exhibits tact and professionalism in difficult situations according to PRIDE Values and Practices * Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal information. * Demonstrates an understanding of and adheres to safety and infection control policies and procedures. * Assumes accountability for improving quality metrics associated with department/unit and meeting organizational/departmental targets. Work Environment * Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture. * Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility. * Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows. * Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments. * Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft. The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations is required.
