Breakthrough Initiative Leader Toluene Methylation

There is an immediate opening for the position of Breakthrough Initiative (BTI) Leader Toluene Methylation, within UOP's Process Technology and Equipment business unit. This position is located in Des Plaines, Illinois and will report to the Senior Business Leader Aromatics and Derivatives in PT&E. The job represents a unique and visible opportunity to lead and coordinate technical sales for UOP's aromatics complex offering with particular emphasis on UOP's new Toluene Methylation process.

The BTI Leader is recognized as a leader in aromatics technology processing, combining a high level and broad scope of technical capabilities and knowledge with business focus and a global perspective.

Key success factors in this position include:

  • Proactive sales of the UOP Toluene Methylation Process value proposition

  • Ability to tailor UOP's technical offering to optimize our customers' project economics and positively differentiate UOP's technical offering in relation to those of our competitors

  • Ability to work closely with colleagues in other groups (Sales, Sales Support, Engineering, Development and business management) to enhance the positioning of UOP's aromatics technologies

Accountabilities of this position include:

  • Develop technically innovative solutions to sales opportunities

  • Coordinate production and optimization of yield estimates

  • Work with Sales to review inquiries, develop technical proposals, provide input to commercial proposals for license, engineering and catalyst costs, develop guarantee positions, initial and subsequent drafts of the engineering and guarantee agreements and provide technical support for the sales phase of the project

  • Take a lead role in customer meetings for bid clarifications, technology updates, technical proposal review and general positioning of respective technologies, including developing the necessary presentations

  • Provide business support of the New Product Development Process to enhance UOP's aromatics technologies

  • Facilitate the transition of projects from sales to engineering through the process design phase

  • Provide feedback to appropriate parties at UOP regarding design weaknesses and strengths, sales opportunities and competitive intelligence

  • Advise engineering managers and coordinate the development of all engineering support required for the sales process

  • Leverage best practices across the Sales Support group using potential synergies to develop and improve tools for increased efficiency of the sales support process

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering

  • 15 years experience in Refining or Petrochemical processes

  • Proven track record in commercialization of new technology (development, sales, design, start-up

and service)

Qualifications: * Applicant must be highly qualified. * Applicant must have Bachelors in Social Work or Psychology. * Applicant must be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English. * Bilingual Spanish required. * Applicant must have previous experience in Early Childhood setting.
