POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Engineer performs delivery of service functions as required by our customers needs. FE ensures that the repair of customer equipment, and that it is ultimately functional according to the original manufacturers specifications. Responds to after hours emergency service requests. Customer Satisfaction is the primary goal.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responds to customer service requests.
Keep customer informed throughout the lifecycle of the service request.
Analyzes, diagnoses and repairs customer reported problems.
Follows all escalation procedures.
Regular site audits are to be done according to policy and utilizing new single

Point tool.
Participate in continual education through studying OEM service manuals, via OJT and completing Curvature Training Courses.
Record time, expenses and material usage during service calls, along with accurate serial numbers for parts replaced.
Help maintain an accurate and accountable inventory.
Will participate in a rotational On-Call Schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of field service or data center experience performing Break/Fix on Intel based Server and Storage hardware equipment including: Dell Servers, HP Servers, or IBM Servers and EMC Storage equipment, NetApp Storage equipment, or Hitachi Storage equipment.
Minimum 3 years experience with hands on disk and tape sub-systems, including RAID arrays and tape libraries.
Minimum 3 years performing break/fix on Network Hardware, including Cisco routers and Switches.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Technology.
Minimum 3 years experience with system installation, hardware replacement procedures and firmware upgrades.
Minimum 3 years experience interpreting and diagnosing system error logs.
Thorough product knowledge and skills in hardware and operating systems for the following products: Dell PowerEdge servers, Hewlett-Packard ProLiant servers, IBM xSeries Equipment, IBM pSeries Equipment (RS/6000), IBM iSeries Equipment (AS/400), IBM zSeries Equipment (Mainframes), EMC Clarion Storage, EMC Symmetrix, EMC Connectrix, EMC Celerra, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard 9000 Unix, AlphaServer, Classic DEC AlphaServer and VAX, HP 3000, Cisco Systems routers and switches, Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER, NetApp
Knowledge of diagnostics, system exercisers and operating system utilities used to troubleshoot, interrogate, re-configure, and test data center equipment.
Possess a full understanding of customer service philosophy and procedures of the company.
Possess the ability to be persuasive with customers, keeping customer satisfaction as a guiding factor.
Solid problem-solving skills where problems may be complex or hard to diagnose
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with internal and external customers
Successful Candidate must pass a Background Check and Drug Screen as a condition of employment.

Candidates Must be willing to undergo multiple background checks and or drug screens to meet various customer contract requirements.

Must have a clear driving record for the past 3 years.

VIEW JOBS 10/27/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-25T00:00 Job Description: Day to day responsibilities include troubleshooting various production issues of host not seeing storage, single path failures and performance based issues. * Engage with System's Admin, DBA and Application teams for validating source and target RDF devices and to approve SRDF split/establish requests. * Investigate the host path failure issues to identify the cause and resolving the issues with HBA, cable and SFPs if any. * Implementing, planning and testing Disaster Recovery solution using SRDF/Asynchronous. Split the SRDF pairing for the devices during activity and guide SA, DBA to mount the target devices and bring up the DB/application on the remote side for testing. * Work with vendors like EMC, HP, Brocade and Cisco - in case of any Physical or hardware failures to replace the failed components. Provide logs when required to diagnose the issue. * Extensively work on SAN related host connectivity for various operating systems including SUN Solaris, AIX, Linux, and Windows. * Configuration and allocation of storage for production and corporate VMware hosts from Vmax and VNX including configuration of specific port settings for FA ports. * Expertise in analyzing the performance metrics of Storage frame components (FA/Device/Cache/Disk Adapters/Switches) to investigate issues related to latency and providing best solutions to improve the host IO performance. * Configure VMAX using tools such as Solution Enabler/SMC/Unisphere, create and manage Virtual pools for VMAX, deploy and monitor FAST VP, Also perform VLUN migration when required. * Identify and troubleshoot issues with switch hardware which caused significant credit loss events to multiple hosts causing host aborts, work effectively with vendor to take action and resolve the issue. * Monitor the SAN & Storage alerts regularly across the heterogeneous environment for warnings/critical alarms and proactively took steps to prevent potential issues from occurring. * Extensive experience in performing SRDF operations split/swap/failover/failback/restore as per the requirement from customer and also successfully performed DR testing of multiple applications using SRDF/S & SRDF/A. * Configure zones on Cisco switches using CLI and Fabric Manager for creating zones, updating zones to the zonesets and activating zonesets. * Troubleshoot day to day performance issues and resolve them using Performance Manager. Comparing the port utilization, IOs and read/writes to the disks using performance manager and analyzing the data for trouble shooting performance issues. * Extensive knowledge on Thin provisioning, good understanding of benefits, risks, and how to effectively design and manage a thin provisioned storage environment.
