Basic Function

Under general supervision, provides exceptional service to all guests and potential guests by assisting them in a friendly, efficient, courteous and professional manner. Prepares and serves Hot Breakfast for guests following Company policies and procedures. Maintains the breakfast / lobby area in a clean and organized manner.

General Knowledge, Skill and Ability

Requires ability to take written and verbal direction in English and speak English clearly. Requires ability to communicate in a friendly manner with guests in order to create a warm, comfortable, relaxing environment. Requires knowledge of hotel accommodations, the community and breakfast hours.

Requires ability to conduct accurate inventory of food items and calculate order levels.

Mental and Physical Requirements


Requires knowledge, skill and mental ability equivalent to completion of 2 years of high school.


Previous experience in working with the public or food service experience preferred, but not required.


Requires ability to walk and stand during entire working period of 4 - 6 hours. Requires ability to lift 20 - 30 pounds intermittently during the work shift. Requires ability to push a vacuum, reach, stretch, and bend in routine daily work activities.

Working Relationships

Reports to General Manager, Assistant General Manager or Executive Housekeeper.

Maintains and promotes a positive and cooperative work relationship with all hotel departments.

The Child Watch Attendant is expected to emphasize member service, character development, mission statement, and to work with membership retention and promotion. Responsibilities * Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. * Must maintain a safe environment for children. * Must interact with children on their level of understanding. * Must provide activities, arts and crafts, and YMCA approved curriculum. * Must follow good health practices including; changing diapers, washing hands, cleaning play surfaces and toys, and attending to runny noses and mouths, etc. * Greet each child and family as they arrive and leave. * Maintain records of children participating in program. * Must notify appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, needed repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries immediately. * Know and understand the child watch area for safety reasons along with emergency procedures of the building. * Responsible for injury/accident reporting procedures. * Current knowledge of all areas of training and certifications as well as YMCA of Greater Kansas City employee handbook. * Attend community functions and events to promote the YMCA, its mission and programs. * Maintain a safe, clean, and well organized area. Qualifications * Able to reflect a positive image and attitude. * At least 16 years of age. * Certifications in Professional CPR/AED and First Aid. * Ability, desire, and basic skills to work with children. * Ability to relate to people on all levels in a friendly and consistent manner. * Able to reflect a positive attitude.
