Major Role and Purpose:
1.To ensure the overall success of any job or project assigned through efficient management of time, personnel and cost.
Description of Duties:
1.Assign and supervise daily activities of Utility personnel
2.Enforce safety regulations, direct barricading and traffic control when needed
3.Coordinate and schedule trucks, equipment and materials to job site
4.Call or electronically generate requests for blue stake markings before construction projects begin
5.Prepare and maintain required reports
6.Conduct weekly tailgate safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures
7.Prepare accident reports, make preliminary assessment of damages, and arrange for necessary prepares
8.Interview, select, train, discipline and terminate employees as needed
9.Review, verify, and submit time cards to payroll
10. Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
1.Minimum of 2-4 years related skills, knowledge or experience
1.Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in constructing, maintaining, and repairing water distribution, wastewater collection systems and related structures and facilities
2.Understand grades as they apply to utility installation and ability to read blueprints/ understand specifications
3.Knowledge of hazards of water distribution or wastewater collection work and safety measures to be observed, including trench safety, confined space entry, personal protective equipment, and disinfection procedures
4.Excellent communication and organization skills
5.Basic record-keeping and office procedures
6.Valid Virginia driver's license.
