The Opportunity

Mattel Australia & New Zealand are seeking a proactive and team-oriented Brand Manager, Marketing to join our Australia and New Zealand Marketing team!

The right candidate for this role will have previous experience in a Brand Manager position, effective communication skills, attention to detail, and will be excited to join a purpose drive, fun (we sell toys!) and fast paced organisation where no two days are the same.

As a Brand Manager, you will be responsible for:

Brand Building & Execution

  • Liaise with Mattel's media, creative & PR agencies to develop and execute key marketing campaigns.

  • Continue to grow brand affinity with consumers.

  • Create detailed brand plans to ensure the right target market are finding the right products.

  • In conjunction with the Senior Brand Manager, develop and implement promotional and advertising activities to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual business objectives.

  • Present the plans both internally and to retail partners as required.

  • Ownership of the portfolio - driving reviews, presentations and timelines.

  • Reach and grow the sell through rates annually.

  • Ensure we are spending A&P efficiently and effectively, across digital, eComm, instore, PR, co-op and any other chosen channels.

Sales and Profit

  • Reach the GSV goals annually.

  • Have a love of finding answers through numbers.

  • Partner with sales team to create new opportunities.

  • Review sales performance of segments/ brands regularly and recommend changes in media. Adapt plans where required.

  • Plan and implement the introduction of new products in conjunction with the Senior Marketing Manager.

  • Consult with Sales, Planning, Customer Marketing and Finance to ensure the most effective and profitable marketing of products.

  • Monitor and control A&P spend ensuring adequate records are kept, purchase orders are raised, and invoices are paid on a timely basis.

  • Continually review A&P spend to ensure plans are as efficient and effective as possible.

  • Have a focus on return on investment for every business dollar spent.

Strategic Planning

  • Analyse and interpret consumer research, data and analytics, to seek the opportunity or the solve.

  • Liaise with global and regional Mattel offices on brand issues including brand direction, strategy, creative, pricing and market research.

  • Keep abreast of trends and new competitors in the toy market, ensuring Mattel stays aware of competitor brand activities, licensing programs and new entrants.

  • The want and ability to inspire, engage and influence others.

Experience, knowledge and skills we think the right candidate will hold:

  • Tertiary qualified in Commerce, Marketing, Business Management, or other business-related disciplines.

  • Previous experience as a Brand or Product Manager (1-2 years). Experience in FMCG or consumer goods environment is preferable but not required.

  • Experience in range management, including pricing and forecasting.

  • Thorough understanding of standard marketing techniques including: financial / sales and marketing analysis, retail performance analysis, and promotions.

  • Experience working with retailers to execute commercially viable business plans.

  • Experience in briefing and working with external agencies on marketing campaigns.

  • Experience in managing budgets.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to utilise data for accurate analysis and reporting.

  • Ability to identify multiple solutions to complex problems and recommend the most effective course of action.

  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills - a disciplined and results orientated professional, you value follow through and take pride in delivering.

  • Standout communication skills - you will have the ability to inspire, engage and influence others to collaborate and achieve together.

  • The ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, dealing with multiple stakeholders and the capacity to keep a number of balls in the air. You will also be a self-starter who is motivated and able to work both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Team oriented, comfortable working in a team environment.

  • Able to travel overseas as required; must have valid unrestricted passport.
