General Summary:

The Pepperidge Farm Cookies business is integral to the total Campbell Snacks organization.This role is responsible for leading the Holiday cookies portfolio, Pack format expansion and managing the day to day operations of our other Distinctive cookies portfolio that includes brands such as Chessmen & Brussels. Holiday is a key strategic drive window for the business and this role will be responsible for all key aspects of planning and execution of the holiday strategy. This role will also be responsible for building out the strategic roadmap and execution of pack formats across multiple channels, addressing the unique needs of these channels. Additionally, the role will be responsible for the day to day operations and innovation on the Other Distinctive cookies portfolio.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute annual brand marketing plans (consumer, trade, and advertising) in an effort to deliver or exceed stated volume objectives.

  • Manage monthly volume forecasting process and provide key business/competitive/category insights to develop and execute sound action plan as needed.

  • Work with consumer insights to unlock deeper consumer needs and identify white space opportunities and develop innovation pipeline for the business.

  • Proven skills in leading integrated communication strategy working with key stakeholders within the organization as well as external agency partners.

  • Lead the expansion of Pepperidge Farm pack formats across channels. Develop price-pack architecture principles, understand consumer needs, retailer strategies balanced with internal capabilities. Lead the commercialization of new pack formats closely working with cross-functional teams.

  • Develop & Eexcute solid plans for delivering growth in the Holiday drive window for the total cookies business. Work closely with Sales operations, Supply chain, POS teams to align demand & supply needs.

  • Partner with sales, sales operations, finance, integrated marketing, supply chain and other key cross-functional partners to deliver business results on the Other Distinctive cookies portfolio.

Job Specifications:

  • Minimum Education Required: Bachelors Degree

  • MBA Strongly Preferred

  • Years of Relevant Experience: 3-5 years of traditional brand management experience; CPG retail experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership, ability to set, communicate and drive strategy.

  • Sound financial/analytical acumen, problem identification and resolution skills and creative/consumer insights abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to motivate and lead a diverse cross-functional team of professionals. including brand marketing, market research, finance, operations, R&D, sales and agencies.

General Summary: The Senior Research Scientist is responsible for the coordination and execution of product development efforts for Cookies initiatives. This includes new products, line extensions, cost savings, alternate supplier and quality improvements. Incumbent is responsible for ensuring that objectives, budget and timetables are met. This position is a hands-on personal contributor position that may manage a technician. The Senior Research Scientist responds resourcefully to new demands and challenges throughout the product development & commercialization process (including bench, pilot plant, and plant trials to create prototypes for consumer testing, etc.) and implements best practices. The incumbent must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence decisions within the cross functional team (Marketing, Operations/Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, QA, Process Development and Package Development) and externally with partners (suppliers, Campbell's Center of Excellence, R&D, co-manufacturers). The Senior Research Scientist is expected to possess and demonstrate a solid understanding of food science, the business, operations and the commercialization processes. Their approach should include a practical application and modification of existing products/new technologies or the identification and innovative creation of new and unique products which achieve business goals. The Senior Research Scientist provides technical specifications and support to assure smooth rollouts of new products and processes during plant startups. This includes the provision of comprehensive process documentation to enable smooth commercialization and training of plant personnel. The Senior Research Scientist must support an environment that fosters innovation and calculated risk taking. Primary Responsibilities: * Leads the identification, assessment and validation of formulations from bench-top through commercialization. This includes managing the financial aspects of product development including ingredient costs for plant trials * Ensures all proper documentation is done accurately and on schedule * Conducts and leads assessment and capability studies, product startups/commercialization and provides on-site support to Plant Operations for new products, productivity and quality programs * Fosters an innovation culture by continually introducing ideas and product concepts for new products, quality improvements, and productivity. * Creates, designs, supervises the development of new experimental protocols/best practices required to validate product concepts and prototypes. * Independently directs the activities of outside vendors including ingredients and services. Job Complexity: * Ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior Management as well as Plant Management * Can handle multiple projects and prioritize them based on business objectives and timelines. * Must be a good problem solver; able to identify, interpret and analyze the correct data, and provide detailed direction to development projects * Active knowledge and understanding in areas beyond Product Development including Process and Package Development, QA, Project Engineering and thorough understanding of Marketing needs and financial concepts (costing, budgets, etc.) * Sustain a high level of competence and professionalism in a dynamic business environment * Easily adapts to changing priorities * Able to work with a team and lead cross-functional technical team in achieving the results needed Minimum Requirements: * Food Science, Food Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering degree with Product Development/Baking emphasis; preferably someone who has successfully commercialized baked products in the market. * 5-10+ years of related experience with a consumer-packaged goods background; experience with cookie unit operations is preferred. Experience in chips, bars, bread, pasta, doughs and other snacks are also relevant * Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to details, good communications and interpersonal skills * Ability to handle and lead multiple projects at any given time in a team environment * Passion for food science, product development and consumers as it relates to innovation for new products, line extensions, and productivity opportunities. * Ability to think beyond his or her own (R&D) function to consider the organization holistically.
