The Category Advantage Manager, Meals & Sauces is responsible for developing and implementing category strategies to achieve the Net Sales and EBIT objectives. The role has two primary accountabilities: 1) it is focused on demand creation through Horizon 2 Innovation and Price Pack Architecture to meet emerging consumer and customer needs; 2) it must identify and validate large-scale enablers that drive Gross Margin expansion and delivery of EBIT objectives. This role includes a heavy focus on leading direct reports and cross-functional partners in the development & delivery of compelling Meals & Sauces Innovation Platforms, Price Pack Architecture, and Enablers, with responsibility for up-stream platform identification, consumer shaping & validation, down-stream commercialization and go-to-market launch planning for key initiatives. The leader in this role is also responsible for managing and developing marketing talent, including coaching and developing direct reports. He/she is a member the Meals & Sauces Category Team, and the Meals & Sauces Marketing Leadership Team.
Develops marketing strategy for the category to help achieve category objectives for growth of market share, net sales and EBIT relating to innovation and price pack architecture.
Partners with Meals & Sauces Brand Team and Sales to develop Price, Pack Architecture Strategy to maximize demand generation and deliver on the unique needs of consumers and customers in varying classes of trade (e.g. eComm, warehouse clubs, limited assortment), including new route to market models.
Partners with Product Development and Supply Chain to identify large, scalable enabler opportunities and tracks multi-year enabler program with annual cost savings targets.
Leads portfolio SKU rationalization efforts to manage product assortment and reduce complexity.
Contributes to the pipeline of H1 new products (line extensions, renovations, quality improvements) for the Meals & Sauces categories that is sufficient to achieve strategic plan targets for net sales from new products.
Leads category stage gate meeting and feeds output to PMR.
Partners on the development and translation of strategic consumer insights into meaningful and actionable plans.
Contributes to the development and direction of the 3-year category Strategic Plan.
Participates as the marketing lead in the monthly Portfolio Management Review.
Partners with R&D to allocate resources to the highest priority projects.
Partners with Innovation team to curate the long-term innovation and enabler pipeline ("4-2-1-1")
Partners closely with the Innovation team to ensure strategic fit/integration for new category platforms and commercialization approach.
Member of the Meals & Sauces Category Team, led by the Vice President of Meals & Sauces Category
Significant and frequent interaction with Chief Marketing Officer, and other members of the US Leadership team through regular meetings to shape a large and complex innovation pipeline.
Manages and develops the Meals & Sauces brand strategy team, including coaching and developing two to three direct reports.
Minimum 8-10 years of product/brand marketing experience.
Food/beverage experience preferred. Must include innovation experience.
Health / well-being experience a plus. Does not need to be in food
People leadership experience required
Occasional, limited travel in North America
