Position Summary: Responsible for all business processes of the office/division while directing the overall activities of the office/division employees. Responsible for managerial level support of our customers, manufacturers, and sales people. Works independently solving complex and difficult problems while managing others as required. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish division goals. Must work well with all customers, manufacturers and sales people to provide exceptional support when and wherever necessary. Responsible for development of client relationships and sales.

Position Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of sales to clients

  • Must partner with manufacturers, specifiers, and clients

  • Work with Specification Sales Manager to build one name specifications on all lighting projects

  • Interaction with customers through informal telephone conversations, lunch meetings, industry events etc. to measure satisfaction level

  • Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others

  • Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts

  • Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills

  • Responsible for developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers, manufacturers, and outside sales people and maintaining them over time

  • Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job

  • Translating or explaining what information means and how it can be used

  • Responsible for providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance

  • All aspects of customer and sales service including but not limited to (order entry, returns, obtaining catalog numbers and pricing on replacement parts, some or all aspects of project management, etc.)

  • Works to solve and resolve customer problems

  • Responsible for all aspects of customer service as directed by Executive Management

  • Provides sales support training to subordinates

  • Monitoring and controlling resources and overseeing the spending of money

  • Estimating sizes, distance, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity

  • Ensure quick and proper response to all reasonable customer requests

  • Maintain profitability by meeting bogies and containing expenses

  • Establish annual budget and bogies with Senior Management

  • Ensure that all personnel understand the overall company objectives as well as local office objectives

  • Become the most specified agency in your territory

  • Identify and secure new markets within your territory

  • Reinforce cooperation between other offices/divisions

  • Staff management including; interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

  • Analyze and make timely critical decisions displaying good judgment

  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Management

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or 5 to 7 years of related lighting rep agency or distribution experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Lighting background preferred

  • Prior management experience preferred

  • Must have proven problem solving ability

  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

  • Must possess experience in outside sales

  • Must possess experience in project quotations

  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver license

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction

  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one

  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action

  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

  • Must be proficient on word, excel, outlook, and internet research

  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Exhibits good judgment

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate

Interfaces and communicates with sales department and customers regarding service. * Maintains daily workflow for delivery orders. Supervises associates working in warehouse and as delivery drivers, assisting them during peak business hours. Ensures replenishment orders and returned merchandise are processed according to company standards. * Participates in planning personnel safety, training and plant protection activities. Ensures safety procedures are followed and makes recommendations regarding safety issues. * All associates have the responsibility for following rules and guidelines set forth in the Company Policies, Procedures and Code of Conduct, as well as a moral obligation to look out for the safety and wellbeing of their fellow associates. Associates also have the responsibility to report violations of the Policies and Procedures and report any safety concerns to their supervisor/manager. * Maintains a customer service oriented philosophy in all conduct of self and subordinates. * Ensures operational procedures are followed for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials and keeping warehouse inventory current. * Make recommendations for improvements to procedures. Informs Manager of physical condition of warehouse and equipment. Ensures needed repairs are made, known and submits requisitions for replacement of equipment if needed. Job Requirements * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. * Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, time calculations and area. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
