Our Hiring Process

We believe it's important for you to know where you stand in our hiring process. Below is an outline of the steps we take to make the best hires possible.

In-Person Interview: After a screening call with TQC, we'll invite a final number of candidates to our office for an in-person interview or set up a live Zoom meeting with the hiring manager(s).

Position Summary:

The Branch Manager is responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising the operations and sales activities at the assigned branch, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and with a focus on balancing, reconciliation and control of transactions and negotiable items in the branch. Complies with all federal and state laws, as well as organizational policies, procedures, and processes, including but not limited to, those related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Identity Theft Red Flags, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the hiring, including reviewing resumes, interviewing and identifying qualified candidates, and supervision of staff assigned to the branch, monitoring staff productivity, scheduling staff, and writing and delivering performance appraisals.

  • Responsible for the training, coaching, and development of staff on all credit union products and services and quality service techniques to ensure accuracy and a high level of consistency in responses provided.

  • Responsible for supervision of employees engaged in processing member account transactions at the teller stations and providing over-the-counter credit union services to members.

  • Responsible for development of a sales and service culture in the branch and keeping staff motivated and focused on achieving credit union goals. Ensures employee efforts are focused on achieving annual branch goals such as, but not limited to, member service satisfaction, membership, checking and loan growth, sales and other key areas for the assigned branch.

  • Attracts new members and manages member and account retention. Responsible for growing new membership by actively supporting business development and community involvement efforts in surrounding communities and conducting offsite visits, as required.

  • Ensures expense control in all areas including salaries and overtime.

  • Responsible for maintaining a professional and comfortable branch environment to ensure a positive branch experience for members, employees and other visitors.

  • Responsible for overseeing and controlling bank deposits, negotiable items, as well as recording, balancing, and reconciliation of all branch accounts, including assigned ATMs.

  • Responsible for operating in accordance with established policies and procedures involving deposit, loan and general ledger accounts.

  • Responsible for taking loan applications, performing loan interviews and making credit decisions within assigned limits.

  • Responsible for preparing loan documents, disbursement of loan proceeds and discussing loan decisions with members in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the branch, staff and confidential member information. Ensures that a manager or supervisor is in the branch at all times to maintain sufficient security and support for members and staff.

  • This position is a working supervisor that provides over-the-counter credit union services to members, including the opening of accounts, processing of loan applications and disbursements of funds, and the processing of other account transactions as needed.

  • Process outgoing wire transfers and complete the wire transfer checklist, including performing advanced security verification, if necessary. Supervise and audit work completed by department staff.

  • Recommend procedures, techniques and standards, implement new ideas or improvements to increase effectiveness, service quality, and productivity of assigned staff.

  • Responsible for administering established credit union policies and programs.

  • Complete Currency Transaction Reports in accordance with the requirements outlined in the Credit Union's current Bank Secrecy Act Policy

  • Perform required OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) screens as outlined in the Credit Union's current Bank Secrecy Act Policy and report any positive matches to the BSA Officer.

  • Monitor and report potential suspicious activity/transactions to the Credit Union's BSA Officer and/or Fraud Analyst utilizing the Credit Union's Suspicious Activity Report Investigation Form.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Sales & Service.

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • Must become certified STAMP Medallion Guarantor

  • Must become a Notary Public

  • Must be able to register on the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Performs special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: College degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or other related business discipline desired.

  • Experience: Three years' supervisory experience, preferably at a credit union or financial institution, required. Must be able to direct the activities of assigned employees. Three years' experience handling monetary account transactions in a computerized environment required. This experience should include recognizing and correcting out-of-balance conditions.

  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and oral communications and cross functional project management skills required. Must be a self-starter who is able to follow projects through to completion with little supervision and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Office). Ability to make presentations before large and small groups required. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with employees, members and upper management in person or on the telephone required. Must be able to handle difficult situations. Proficiency in computer programs, i.e., Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of Symitar software system preferred. Knowledge of credit union operations, products and services, and policies, including regulatory issues, required.

  • Extra Credit Skills: You will bring your enthusiasm, collaborative work-style, inquisitive attitude, flexibility, creativity, focus on excellence, and overall "great-to-work-with" demeanor. Previous experience with a financial institution with basic knowledge of financial products and services is a plus.

  • Travel Required: 20 - 50% local travel required. Travel during assigned shifts requires ability to operate personal vehicle. Occasional travel to more remote locations; similar, but not limited to our Fresno branch.

  • Hours Required: Exempt employee with the ability to work branch hours Monday through Friday. Hours and locations will fluctuate as business needs and business development activities dictate.
