BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The Branch Accountant role is responsible for all the financial and accounting information associated with the company's projects in your assigned territory along with oversight of the P&L. This is a highly interactive position that is essential to the financial management at BluSky.

The Branch Accountant will proactively work closely with the project coordinators, project directors, and project manager/superintendents to reconcile job budgets, accurately capture past and future costs, and maintain project documentation. The Branch Accountant will review P&L's with office leadership to make sure the office is staying within budget on expenses along with reviewing job information as needed.

Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with Operations to ensure compliance with contracts/subcontracts and utilization of field management program.

  • Analyzes P&L to ensure accuracy and budget compliance.

  • Reviews P&L monthly with VP.

  • Oversight for financial aspects of high dollar value jobs to maximize profitability and cash flow.

  • Influences, directs, and drives team activity/action based on data evaluation.

  • Analyzes low margin jobs to determine the cause and corrective actions.

  • Works with team members to insure timely approval invoices.

  • Monitors adherence to companies' best practices and notifies the appropriate parties of any potential concerns.

  • Proactively analyzes billing status and WIP results; follows up with operations and project coordinators to drive accountability and results.

  • Actively participates in the weekly production meetings.

  • Trains and supports Project Coordinators as needed; ability to influence and drive performance on jobs.

  • Supports Operations and partners with AR team to ensure timely collections and other key AR decisions (lien rights, stop work notice, etc.).

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Ensures billings are going out timely and underbilling's are at a minimum.

  • Partners with Regional Finance Directors & Branch Accountants to strive for a culture of continuous improvement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This role supervises two to six project coordinators.

COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Highly motivated, detail oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to establish trust and relationships throughout the offices.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.

  • Ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS;

  • 5+ years of experience in a Project Coordinator position or accounting role preferred.

  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a clear and professional manner.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with emphasis on accuracy, communication and organizational skills and meeting required deadlines.

  • Experience in the construction industry is preferred.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or relevant work experience is preferred.

TRAVEL:

Occasional travel. (Less than 25% of time.) Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected for training or meetings
