Brake Press Operator

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Schaefer's Bending Department uses industry leading bending technology to form laser cut parts for electrical enclosure fabrication. The Bending Department houses a fully automated bending work center adapted for high volume versatility, supplemented with a range of CNC press brakes, to achieve Schaefer's signature customization. The seasoned Bending Department is staffed with a comprehensive operator experience of over 50 years. Schaefer's fast-paced high-energy work environment is built around a culture of employee centered development, team focused engagement, and lean manufacturing principles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Correctly select specific product folding tool.

• Program, operate, and adjust CNC controls.

• Read and interpret production drawings and other engineering aids.

• Use precision measurement tools to check for dimensional part accuracy.

• Make routine decisions and use analytical strategies to solve nonconformance issues.

• Perform assigned work within time standards and quality expectations.

• Account for time and work completed through labor reporting system.

• Report and document basic material, production, and quality control issues.

• Conduct and document operator preventative maintenance as scheduled.

• Report and document equipment malfunction to the Maintenance Department and direct supervisor.

• Work over-time, as needed, to meet departmental production demands.

EXPERIENCE:

• Folder / Press Brake Operator: 1 year

• Manufacturing experience: 1 year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of materials weighing up to 75 lbs.

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, and reach.
