Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Brake Form Operator to join our team in Auburn, WA!

Employees in this position layout and sequence work to be performed on a variety of non-standard parts forming machines. These employees will make more than four bends on a single part. They will use aluminum stock to form, blank, joggle and coin parts and tools. They will use hot and cold dies and various other hand and power tools to make parts. These employees will perform tool tryouts when new tools and methods are introduced into the shop area. These employees will ensure parts meet quality standards and specifications. Employment in this position also requires visual acuity, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds, reaching, handling, turning/twisting, stooping, lifting/lowering, contact with metals, cleaners, exposure to noise and moving parts, and the use of personal safety gear for face/eye, hand/arm, ears and feet.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain work package from, material stores area (MSA) and/or flat sheet metal staging area, or run previously set-up job by reviewing tie-in from prior operator, work from weekly priority list.

  • Review the work order (W/O); obtain drawings and manufacturing enhanced data sheets (MEDS), as required.

  • Use computing system (e.g., Bold/Web) to retrieve drawing if not with (W/O) and other on line engineering instructions, as required.

  • Use electric stacker to move material and finished parts, as required.

  • Perform layout and sequencing of work and operate all types and sizes of press equipment to make parts or tools, as required.

  • Use hand/power tools to bend, form, joggle, draw and coin parts and/or tools, as required.

  • Perform tool tryouts on contract tools to ensure parts are formed to specification, as required.

  • Transfer manufacture identification roll code (e.g., suppliers name, type of material, heat treat number, and gauge), record data on (W/O), per Boeing (BAC) specifications, as required.

  • Calculate material used for job and record debit on paper work (W/O), as required.

  • Obtain tools from storage area (e.g., quick change blank tool, blank tool) manually or by using on line computer systems (e.g., automated retrieval system), as required.

  • Check and ensure all safety features/guards are properly attached before operation of machine.

  • Walk around machine to check for (e.g., oil spills, broken hoses) call for appropriate maintenance, as required.

  • Use precision measurement tools (e.g., caliper, protractor) to ensure part is within tolerance.

  • Obtain first parts check, as required.

  • Run remaining parts and check each detail part during run, to ensure parts are complete, per drawing and that there are no visible defects.

  • Perform on line computer work using enterprise resource planner (ERP), at completion of job assignment.

  • Load recyclable aluminum from used blanks onto rolling table, move and place in tub skid, as required.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner per Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), as required.

  • Maintain personal and tool certification, as required.

  • Consult with supervisor and/or others (e.g., inspection, engineering) on process or job related issues, as required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Able to lift 35lbs
  • 1+ years experience using precision measuring tools
  • 1+ years using hand tools
  • 3+ years experience reading engineering blueprints/drawings

Typical Education:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

This position is for 2nd shift.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business consideration

Summary pay range: $21- $44.08 an hour
