Position Details

Title: Box Office Assistant/House Manager

Reports to: Theater Coordinator

General Purpose: Operate box office, facilitate ticket sales, serve as Theater House Manager during rentals or performances and ensure an overall smooth operation for patrons

Primary Duties

  • Provide coverage in the box office or serve as house manager mostly evenings and weekend hours

  • Hours shall be mutually agreed upon, depending on needs and conflicts.

  • Receive and process box office ticket sales using various aspects of the ticketing system

  • Ensure that ticket sales are processed efficiently and accurately, and that all money is received and reconciled by box office reports.

  • Answer all box office queries, and deal with problems, complaints and issues as they may arise.

  • Maintain records of all forms of ticket sales

  • Provide facility information and superior customer service to patrons during box office or house management hours

  • Stay current regarding shows and events at the Auburn Ave. Theater and communicate this knowledge to the public and staff as needed.

  • Follow policies and procedures regarding accurate cash handling and ticket reconciliation at the close of each shift.

  • Complete all duties with a customer service focus through teamwork and dedication

Minimum Qualifications

Skills/Experience Preferred:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • People skills and ability to work with the public and skills in customer service.

  • Experience handling/reconciling cash and the ability to calculate money with efficiency and accuracy

  • Basic computer knowledge

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Experience with in performing arts and box office preferred however, not required

Additional Information


  • Hours will vary from week to week depending on the specific requirements of the shows being produced and other requirements of the Auburn Ave Theater; Mostly Friday nights and weekend shifts.
