Examples of Duties (include but are not limited to the following):

  • Welcome all guests and ensure guests receive responsive, professional and gracious service at all times

  • Assist restaurant leadership in managing the host area, assist in training, directing and leading the host team, in alignment with established standards and procedures

  • Answer any guest questions about the menu, specific food items, the wine list or any other inquiries

  • Perform general clerical tasks including maintaining logbooks and reservation counts on Open Table or other reservation system

  • Liaise with servers to ensure communication at all times about wants and needs of guests

  • Escort guests to their table and help them into their seats

  • Answer phones and take reservations

  • Communicate reservation flow with the back of house

  • Maintain cleanliness of restaurant entrance

  • Check coats and maintain coat check room in a neat and organized manner

  • Maintain the printing and cleanliness of all menus

  • Post daily floorplans and side work duties

  • Stock supplies i.e.: matches, business cards, toothpicks

  • Maintain a clean, safe environment all times in the Dining Room and all service stations

  • Assist in table setting and general dining room maintenance during peak periods

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English

  • Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of fine dining bar experience

  • Knowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least 1 year of dining room experience and thorough knowledge of fine dining, service procedures and functions

  • Must be pleasant, conscientious and professional with excellent hospitality instincts & drive to provide customer service

  • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, and ensure smooth service operations and quality service

  • Must have complete knowledge of and use the service and merchandising techniques described in the Hosts' Manual

  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware

  • Knowledge of all menu items, prices and general service procedures

  • Must possess basic computational ability

  • Must possess basic computer skills

  • Must be familiar with OpenTable or similar reservation system


  • High School diploma or equivalent required

Typical Physical / Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch

  • Must use hands to reach, grasp, handle, pull and push

  • Must have good near and far vision

  • Must be able to hear, talk, smell

Job Summary Answer phones, take dining reservations, and enter diner information into reservation system. Maintain wait list and quote accurate wait time. Make appropriate seating decisions using station rotation chart. Organize seating for large and special needs groups. Greet guests and determine the number in their party. Seat guests by finding a clean, available table; pulling out chairs; placing clean/current menu in front of guest, etc. Guide guests through the dining rooms and provide any needed assistance. Ensure place settings are appropriate and each guest has a napkin, clean silverware, and any other item that is part of the standard place setting. Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day. Monitor dining rooms for seating availability, service, and safety. Communicate with guests and other employees to meet guest needs and ensure staff is working together as a team. Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees; and serve as a role model. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; and complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards. Speak with others using clear and professional language, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
