The Bookstore Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of sales floor related duties with providing exceptional customer service being the main focus. Duties include stocking shelves, answering the phone, greeting customers, responding to bookstore questions regarding textbooks, merchandise, policies, assist in cleaning, and other sales floor functions

Minimum Education/Experience
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Positive human relation and oral communication skills
Ability to take initiative and complete tasks in a timely manner
Ability to work occasional evening hours during times of peak demand
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
2.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to colleagues and customers to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Bookstore to assist customers and perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computerized point of sale system and other office equipment to complete other activities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate a computerized point of sale system and other equipment that involves repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to access merchandise/materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position requires the person to frequently use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with Bookstore materials/merchandise/equipment, to assist customers, and to perform the essential functions of the position.
3.VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4.WORKING CONDITIONS
This position's essential functions are performed in an indoor retail setting.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
Greet and assist Bookstore customers
Assist customers in selecting merchandise
Stock shelves, prices merchandise, and assists in creating merchandise displays
Return merchandise to the floor that has been brought back for a refund
Serve as a back-up to the regular part-time sales associates. Answers the telephone and refers calls to appropriate individuals
Cashier using computer point of sales system during rush
Assist in data entry of merchandise
Organize and maintains cleanliness of the Bookstore by vacuuming, dusting, and straightening the shelves
During book buy back period, works with staff to clean, price, and re-stock the used books
Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons of the Bookstore
Advise the Retail Management Assistant on significant matters and supports the members of management in the achievement of their goals and operational purposes

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur
