Position Summary

The Merchandiser Assistant will support the mission, vision, and values established by the Board of Directors by assisting in daily and monthly grain accounting functions.


  • A high school diploma/GED and four years of grain industry experience

  • Solid practical accounting, analytical and organizational skills, strong communication skills, (both verbal and written), and strong documentation skills are required

  • Knowledge of position reporting, including the ability to interpret position data/reports, and proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software (e.g. Excel and MS Word), are required

  • Knowledge of grain industry practices, terminology and settlement processes, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work in an active and fast-paced department are all preferred

Reporting to this Position: None

Description of Duties:

  • Responsible for daily scale activity

  • Responsible for accurate ticket entry on a daily basis

  • Grain grading with timely communications to operations staff

  • Grain grading equipment State & Federal Regulations' compliance

  • Responsible for the daily application and processing of grain sales settlements

  • Responsible for incoming telephone calls

  • Customer service

  • Enter data into Intellego Scale and GP/Intellego

  • Assist and support grain commodity system

  • Assist in monthly commodity closing process

  • Assist and support the development of policies and procedures

  • Support back up of Commodity Specialists when absent

  • Assist and support Merchandiser Manager

  • Communicate bids and market information to customers

  • Supports the daily truck logistics

  • Support the Commodity and Financial activity

  • Support all specific tasks assigned by the Commodity Supervisor

  • All other duties as assigned

  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is low.

  • The ability to perform light lifting (up to 20 lbs)
