Reconstructing Judaism seeks a full-time Bookkeeper for its rabbinical college, movement headquarters, press, and summer camp. Reporting dually to the Director of Operations for Reconstructing Judaism and to the Director of Finance and Operations for Havaya Summer Programs, this position encompasses an array of finance duties such as accounts payable, payroll, and charitable gift entry. The ideal candidate can thrive in a deadline driven environment, is able to maintain focus amidst frequent interruptions, has impeccable attention to detail, and brings a high degree of accuracy, honesty, and confidentiality to their work.
Position Responsibilities
Accounts Payable with approval and signature process
Bank Reconciliation
Reconciliation between Quickbooks and Raiser's Edge
Charitable gift entry
Monthly payroll (staff of up to 8 salaried employees for 9 months of the year, up to 100 timesheet employees during the summer)
Facilitating month-end and year-end closing
Year-end distribution of 1099s and W2s
Supporting the audit process
Posting and adjusting GL and journal entries as directed
Credit card reconciliation and coding (payments and receivables)
Providing excellent internal customer service on behalf of finance to all areas of the organization
Data entry, pulling reports, preparing statements, account research
Office functions such as scanning & mailing checks
Tracking sales and calculating royalties
Other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications
4 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment; or a combination of relevant degree and experience
Proficient in Excel and Quickbooks online
Experience with Financial Edge/Raiser's Edge or similar software
ADP or other relevant payroll software experience
com or other online bill payment software experience
Capabilities:
Ability to communicate clearly with tact and professionalism, both verbally and in writing
Ability to meet deadlines, self-motivate and track tasks
Ability to think critically, troubleshoot and resolve problems
Organized and attentive to detail
Ability to retain information and master new skills quickly
Ability to self-train and to learn new technology
Salary: $50,000-$55,000 commensurate with experience and credentials

This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefit eligible position. Following a three-month period of successful training and onboarding, a hybrid schedule including working from home up to two days a week will be available.
