Our client, a cannabis company in Sacramento, is looking for a Full-Charge Bookkeeper. The Full-Charge Bookkeeper position records financial transactions and creates defined financial reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting journals or accounting software from such source documents as invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. The bookkeeper balances and reconciles accounts against source documents to ensure accuracy. The bookkeeper will also complete financial payroll journal entries and perform basic HR functions with financial impact. This position reports directly to a senior manager and holds primary responsibility for all accounting functions within the business, in consultation with an external CPA.

  • Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
  • Understand the payroll process to be able to post payroll journal entries
  • Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner
  • Take all reasonable discounts on supplier invoices
  • Able to create and post journal entries for regular business transactions
  • Analyze General ledger Accounts
  • Handle large volume of intracompany transactions and ability to reconcile them at month end
  • Ensure that receivables are collected promptly
  • Ability to communicate with vendors to make and manage payment plans
  • Should possess some knowledge of how sales and use taxes, and basic payroll taxes are filed
  • Should possess an understanding of the balance sheet and a profit / loss statement
  • Conduct a monthly reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
  • Maintain petty cash fund
  • Provide information to the external accountant who creates the companys financial statements
  • Maintain an orderly filing system
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Perform financial functions related to HR and benefits
  • Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested

Requirements

  • The bookkeeper candidate should have an Associate's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as strong knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Applicant must have good verbal communication skills and have good problem solving skills.
  • Applicant should possess excellent typing and 10-key skills with very high accuracy.
  • Candidate should have experience with a variety of accounting software packages.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of the Quickbooks online accounting software package.
  • Candidate should be familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of applications and able to efficiently and accurately create useful documents.
  • Experience in small/medium business with the acumen to successfully learn and perform a wide variety of tasks is preferred.
  • Reliability and punctuality are important qualities.

VIEW JOBS 10/7/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-05T00:00 Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Sr. Bookkeeper will assist the Program Manager in the administrative and facilitative needs of Block Advisors Business Services inclusive of peer review, revenue recognition and billing procedures, assessment of regulatory and business trends, and service redundancy. This position provides bookkeeping services to Block Advisors small business clients including assisting with client onboarding, accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, financial statement generation and other miscellaneous bookkeeping services as needed. In addition, this position will partner with Tax Advisors to deploy an effective two-way referral method to assist in the overall development of the business services client base serviced by Block Advisors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide quality review of bookkeeping and payroll transactions as part of peer review and guide Bookkeepers in complex transactional entries in a consultative capacity. * Compile monthly and quarterly reporting as needed to provide assessment of business trends/results. * Assist in client service coverage as needed to assure service delivery. * Check and verify source documents such as invoices, receipts, computer printouts, etc. * Post financial transaction details to subsidiary books and general ledger. * Reconcile and balance accounts. * Generate and analyze financial statements (Profit and loss statement (income statement), statement of financial position (balance sheet), equity statement (statement of owner's equity), and statement of cash flows). * Prepare and facilitate the processing of client payroll. * Comply with relevant reporting requirements * Calculate and prepare tax payments. Generate 1099's and W-2's for clients. * Partner with Tax Advisors by providing relevant bookkeeping and payroll information in order for the Tax Advisor to complete an accurate tax return * Maintain complete filing system to support financial records. * Communicate (both in verbal and written form) with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts. * Assure confidentiality and privacy at all times. * Assist in the generation of Block Advisor growth opportunities and increase retention through referrals and partnerships. * Consult with potential small business clients, respond to client questions and provide business services price quotes. * Participate in potential new client net-working events to help educate and answer questions about small business services. * QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * High School Diploma or equivalent. * A minimum of 4 years of bookkeeping experience preferred. * Knowledge of bookkeeping practices, generally accepted accounting principles and procedures. * National Bookkeeper and Payroll certifications from the National Bookkeeping Association or ability to successfully obtain certifications. * Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Open Office experience * Ability to multi-task in multiple window applications. * Ability to work independently. * Analytical and detail oriented. * Good verbal and written skills. * Client Services experience. * Ability to complete assigned projects on time with minimal supervision. * Ability to correctly interpret and apply complex instructions, policies and regulations. * Ability to treat confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
