Job Description
Provides effective and efficient maintenance, engineering, and mechanical system Boiler support to NDH Hospital Campus to include the Hospital Tower, the Clinic Building, the Center for Advanced Pediatrics (CAP) and the Central Utilities Plant (CUP). Ensures, within all regulatory agency requirements, that buildings, and equipment are maintained in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition to provide an appropriate environment for the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and staff. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Experience
Preferred Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Associates Degree (Technical Diploma) or 2 years college course work in Boiler Operations or Stationary Engineering required
Certification Summary
Valid Ga. Driver's License
Minimum 4th class Stationary Engineer License issued by the State of Georgia or by the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE.) Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Adheres to all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Life Safety measures Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines
Must possess knowledge of all equipment related to steam plant technology
Must have the ability to work with and resolve dangerous high-risk situations that require adherence to safety policies, procedures, and practices
Must be able to work a flexible schedule due to a 24-hour operation of the Central Utilities Plant (CUP)
Job Responsibilities
Ensures power plant is providing utilities efficiently and effectively for normal hospital operations.
Perform predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance and repairs on all operating systems and their support auxiliaries.
Test and troubleshoot components of natural gas and/or fuel oil burner and supply systems including burners, pumps, piping, valves, filters, and controls.
Requisition materials and supplies required in operation and maintenance efforts.
Maintain records for equipment usage (oxygen, chemical, and fuel oil inventories).
Provide clear communication for successful performance of the Boiler System using effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills, and address contentious technical issues in an expedient and professional manner.
