JOB TITLE: General Maintenance Mechanic II Central Utility Plant Operator
With minimal supervision, performs the day to day operations of the Physical Plant to ensure proper steam flow and chilled water supply to the hospital. Performs the repair, maintenance, installation, and inspection of the Physical Plant's systems and equipment. Coordinates a variety of repair and maintenance duties with intermediate proficiency.
This position will work the following schedule:
Tuesday through Saturday: Day Shift
Sunday & Monday: OFF
Shift flexibility is needed to cover departmental time off
All essential accountabilities as detailed in General Maintenance Mechanic II job description with additional responsibilities as detailed below:
Operates boilers to maintain proper steam pressure correctly.
Operates chillers and pumps to ensure that hospital is supplied correct temperature and quantity of chilled water.
Operates and monitors Chiller Automation System to ensure proper operation of equipment and initiates appropriate action to correct any system generated alarms.
Conducts proper testing and water treatment and performs, analyzes and records all results of chemical water treatment of chilled water, cooling towers and steam systems accurately.
Maintains chemical treatment and water softening equipment properly.
Performs annual or as needed cleaning on fire side and water side of boilers and cooling tower sufficiently to pass annual inspection.
Performs maintenance and repair work as scheduled on all equipment notifying manager of any anomalies or to request assistance.
Accurately monitors and records all appropriate conditions of boilers, chillers, and associated equipment. Notes any abnormalities observed and brings them to manager's attention.
Will be required on 3rd shift to answer Hospital Life Safety/Emergency calls.
Monitors Fire Alarm, Energy Management/Building Automation Systems.
Licensures & Certifications:
Class "A" Operators License required.
Valid PA Driver's License.
5 years of recent Maintenance experience preferred. Healthcare Maintenance experience a plus.
Ability to lift at least 50-pounds. Repeated bending, squatting, stooping. Prolonged standing and walking. Climbing ladders and scaffolds. May be exposed to hazards from use of electrical, electronic, mechanical and power equipment.
