You will serve as a BOILER PLANT OPERATOR in the STEAM PLANT SECTION, MAINTENANCE/UTILITIES DIVISION, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
WG-08: Pay will range from $20.41 to $23.75
WG-10: Pay will range from $22.09 to $25.77

You will perform tests to determine the amount of chemicals needed for boiler water treatment.
You will determine equipment and materials needed to support boiler operating project requirements.
You will monitor, adjust, and control all phases of boiler plant operations (e.g., water treatment, fuel systems, steam generation, pollution control).
You will analyze information from gauges, meters, or recorders to determine adjustments needed in boiler plant operations.

This position may require call back and emergency overtime.

Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A BOILER PLANT OPERATOR WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION SUCH AS: 1) Assist with the operation of all equipment in a steam boiler plant to produce and control the amount of steam necessary to meet demands; 2) Maintain and record observed readings for operating boiler and auxiliary equipment within daily operating logs; and 3) Collect samples and perform required tests of boiler water and condensate.
