  • You will adjust automatic electrical combustion controls, magnetic valves, and programming controls for safe and efficient operation of boilers

  • You will locate problems and determine action necessary to maintain adequate steam or hot water high temperature production.

  • You will analyze information from gauges, meters, or recorders to determine adjustments needed in boiler plant operations.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the duties of a BOILER PLANT OPERATOR under normal supervision: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Recognizing dangerous condition in boilers, controls, valves, piping and other equipment inherent to boiler operations to prevent equipment damage or explosion; 2) Observing meters and gauges to ensure proper combustion and prescribed temperatures, pressures, and emissions for performing routine operator maintenance on boiler equipment ; and 3) performing preventative maintenance on plant equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
