As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Boiler and Refrigeration Manager.

What We're Looking For:

We are currently hiring a Boiler and Refrigeration Manager. As a Boiler and Refrigeration Manager you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the ammonia-refrigeration systems and boiler equipment at a high level of efficiency and in compliance with all applicable regulations, codes, and standards. You will also supervise, train, and direct all boiler and refrigeration employees and coordinate with other managers and/or contractors on major capital projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the Pasco and Kennewick boiler and refrigeration systems.

  • Write, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and protect product integrity.

  • Inspect and troubleshoot all equipment and determine proper course of action for preventative and corrective maintenance on the ammonia refrigeration systems and boiler equipment.

  • Maintain documentation on all maintenance performed in accordance with plant policy, applicable regulations, codes, and standards.

  • Schedule outside/on-site contractors, when necessary, while ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations.

  • Procurement of parts & materials to maintain appropriate inventory and efficient workflow.

  • Supervises the seasonal IQF (individually quick frozen) operation.

  • Schedule and assign work order tasks to refrigeration personnel. Determine their ability to perform such tasks.

  • Ensure all plant safety and procedural rules are followed.

  • Ensure proper training and education of employees.

  • Member and facilitator of Food Safety Committee. Maintains necessary records for Food Safety, Plant Safety and Government requirements.

  • Aids in development, updating and enforcement of the plant specific PSM Program.

  • Stays current with proper continuing education for certification at Journeyman level of industrial ammonia refrigeration.

  • Administer PSM, RMP, Tier II, Boiler Emissions for state ecology.

  • Conduct required audits and reporting for the programs.

  • Work with Plant manager on refrigeration/Boiler maintenance, PM's, and new construction.

  • Continued education on regulations and management training through classes and conferences.

  • Review PSM programs to keep current and complete.

  • Other duties assigned.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience Required:

Five years of combined experience and training; providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential duties of the position, including considerable experience in commercial construction projects.

Basic math and good reading and comprehension skills. Knowledge and experience with all types of office machines, including computers, MS Office (Word and Excel), Internet, calculator, copy machine, scanner, etc.

Required Education/Training/Certification Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) preferred. Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's License and CPR certified.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position manages a crew of three or more employees, including scheduling, coaching, and training.

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing which allows effective communications with others.

  • Must be able to walk up to 5 miles for up to 8 hours.

  • Physical ability to use all types of office machines including computers, calculator, and copy machine.

  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation and mobility, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to monitor and inspect activities and operations of the plant.

  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permits the employee to work outside and inside; work around machines and equipment with moving parts; work around moving objects; work on ladders and/or scaffolding; slippery or uneven walking surfaces and climbing/crouching in tight spaces.

  • Sufficient range of arm movement necessary to operate a personal computer and related equipment.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity and strength to move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

  • Sufficient mobility & stamina to spend up to 80% of shift on production floor performing essential job functions.

  • Participate in Respiratory Program.

  • Ability to travel to other TCF locations.

  • Selected employee will be required to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen and E-Verify*
