Body Shop Painter:

The Painter shall use repair techniques, which are consistent with the company philosophy and produce repairs, which are safe and correct to the original manufacturer's specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare the damage area for paint.

  • Color match and mix paint.

  • Refinish and blend, panels or entire vehicle.

  • Complete all refinishing per the estimate or repair order.

GENERAL:

  • Take instruction from, and answer to, the Body Shop Manager/Assist Mgr./Production Mgr.

  • Account for time applied to each job daily by recording it on a time sheet.

  • Maintain working area in clean-safe condition.

  • Advise the A.B.S.M. or the Production Manager immediately of any potentially hazardous condition or damaged tools or equipment or building repairs.

  • Continuously strive to improve efficiency in S/he own work area and the overall operation and be willing to participate in shop meetings and training programs, which are sponsored by the company.

  • Cooperate with parts persons by promptly checking; parts received for correctness and advising of any discrepancy.

  • Return all unused or repairable parts to the parts person on completion of the job.

  • Repair assigned vehicle as quickly as possible using proper repair methods.

  • Promptly advise A.B.S.M. or the Production Manager of the completion of repairs on a job and request a new assignment.

  • Advise A.B.S.M. or the Production Manager immediately of any hidden or missed damage which does not appear on an estimate or repair order.

  • Treat customer's cars with respect and keep cloths, tools, and equipment clean so that their vehicles do not become unduly soiled or damaged.

  • When in personal contact with any customer, maintain a polite courteous attitude and refer any problems to the A.B.S.M.

  • Maintain a good work attitude and cooperate with fellow employees.

Qualifications:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Working knowledge of all aspects of repairs for damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles. Valid driver's license. Must have own tools. Ability to interpret vendor catalogs. Must maintain all O.E.M Manufacturer, ASE, ICAR Training. Two years' experience as a vehicle body repairer or apprentice. Positive attitude.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a physically demanding position. Will stand for six to eight hours per shift. Will lift parts and supplies weighing up to 100 pounds. Will use hand and power tools. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, paint, exhaust & paint fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
