This position prepares properly repaired and primed automotive body panels for refinish coat application, assuring all sand scratches and visible imperfections are removed or repaired prior to application of refinish topcoats. Adherence to processes defined in Manheim's Body Shop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspect all repaired and primed panels for proper and complete body repairs and primer application as defined in SOP.

  • Review any incomplete, missed damage, or improper repairs with management before proceeding.

  • Mask/protect any adjacent panels (non refinish) from scratches or damage before final sanding.

  • Prepare properly repaired and primed panels (including "blend" panels) for final finish application using abrasives, power tools, and hand tools, as directed in SOP.

  • Avoid over-sanding (cutting through finish) or under-sanding (leaving sand scratches that will be visible in final finish) refinish panels.

  • Clean and remove all dust and other particles from repair/refinish panels completely prior to moving completed vehicles to next step.

  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.

  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., assist supervisor in training and orienting new employees, perform housekeeping duties, etc.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • 1 year of body shop and/or prepping experience preferred.

  • Valid Annual Respirator Fit Test documentation required after hire

  • Valid HAPS Paint Training Certification required after hire

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.

  • Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.

  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.

  • Ability to lift 1-15 pounds (i.e., light hand tools, etc).

  • Manual dexterity, repetitive motion tasks.

  • Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Extrusion Process Development Engineer II About the role: * We have an exciting opportunity for an Extrusion Engineer in our Process Development group. * Seeking a technical owner of Process Development of components used in medical devices across Boston Scientific's plant network. * Candidate will devote a portion of time to technology support, technology development, and project support responsibilities. Your responsibilities include: * Key resource for extrusion process development and troubleshooting. * Drives functional excellence initiatives, delivers high quality functional deliverables, and ensures technical excellence for process or technology development. * Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues. * Applies technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation. Executes the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems. * Ensures proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements. (e.g., BOM's, Routers, FMEA's, etc.) * Writes and reviews validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes. * Provides Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package. * Drives and evaluates project and department progress, technical development plans, and results. * Keeps the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action. * May serve as a core team member. * Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, and motivates individuals to achieve results. What we're looking for: Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or applicable field * 2 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Preferred Qualifications * Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science or Chemical Engineering background * Extrusion knowledge and experience * Medical device or heavily regulated industry experience * Robust technical skills with proven application on projects * Familiarity with various polymer processing techniques including extrusion, bonding, injection/blow-molding and 3D printing. * Understanding of DFM, medical device design control / quality systems and the product development process (PLCP) is highly desired. * Experience integrating DFSS tools & Lean Product Development concepts to methodically solve problems and drive improvements through analytical approaches to complex manufacturing processes. * Proficient in process characterization (DOE, design, execution, and analysis). * Proven history providing deliverables (i.e. Control Plans, Work Instructions, Process Flows, Equipment Requirements, etc.) for extrusion processes * Understanding of risk management tools and requirements for medical device product development.
