As a member of the Bodily Injury Team, you will play a vital role using your investigative and negotiation skills to evaluate coverage and resolve a variety of lower exposure claims in a fast paced, detail-oriented, team environment. Every day is a new exciting challenge, as our Bodily Injury Adjusters use industry leading products and services to help our customers through the claims process.


  • Strong written and oral communications skills required.

  • Good interpersonal, analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills required.

  • Customer service experience preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of legal liability, general insurance policy coverage and State Tort Law.

  • The capabilities, skills and knowledge required is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least 6-12 months of directly related experience.

  • Ability to obtain proper licensing as required.

The Bodily InjuryClaim Representative will provide outstanding claim service to ourPolicyholders according to Hartford standards. The successful ABIRepresentative will provide prompt policy holder contact, timely investigationof coverage, liability issues, determination of damages, and disposition ofclaims. * Investigation of ABI claims to determine liability exposures, subrogation and manage claim files. Includes policy interpretation, coverage analysis, identify subrogation, recognize claim exposure while managing claim deadlines and developing jurisdictional expertise. * Handle high volume of claims which includes initial file intake, project and execute accurate and timely payments, investigate mitigation opportunities on the file including subrogation, manage file to timely resolution, and complete all data integrity components. * Accurate reserve analysis for loss, to include excess exposure recognition. * Handling of injury exposures with attorneys as well as unrepresented parties. * Effective handling for first and third party claims according to The Hartford claim standards. * Ensure compliance with policy provisions and state/federal regulations. * Strong customer service and teamwork, answering claim calls in a prompt and professional manner. * Taking ownership of all calls to resolution. * Desire to work as a member of a High Performing Team and execute file strategies on assigned claims in a manner consistent with corporate claim policies and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements. * Handle claim files in a manner consistent with Claim quality standards and goals. What are we looking for? * College degree or equivalent claims experience preferred. * Minimum of 2 years' experience adjusting personal lines auto claims. * Bodily injury experience is a plus. * Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills with a focus on the customer. * Strong time management, organization and attention to detail. * Strong computer skills and accurate keyboarding. * Excellent oral and written communication. * License(s) if required by state/jurisdiction. * Ability to breakdown explanations of complex process and rules into manageable information. * IIA, AIC, CPCU, SCLA preferred. What else can you tell me? * Location: Indianapolis, IN * Start Date: January 7, 2019 * Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST * Obtain and maintain a State Adjuster's License to process Property & Casualty insurance claims in the states supported by your office. Continued employment with The Hartford is contingent upon you successfully passing the licensing exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of the training.
