This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Vale District Office. ? The
BLM Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve
the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects
experienced workers (age 55+) to the BLM to provide scientific, technical, and
administrative support. ? BLM ESP positions are meant to provide temporary,
project-based support. This position is currently funded for an estimate of 52
weeks. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start
date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health
insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced
workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not
employees of the BLM or NEW Solutions. NEW Solutions is the ESP non-governmental
organization responsible for administrative aspects of the program, and the
Enrollees work under BLM direction to assist the Agency staff in carrying out
their mission. BLM ESP Enrollees benefit from the opportunity to keep technical
skills current; to access new training opportunities; to engage in gainful
project-based positions; and to undertake meaningful tasks using their
experience and talent to contribute to the environment, the national economy,
and their own financial security.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree

Experience required with Windows, MS Excel, MS Word, ARCVIEW (GIS), MS
Teams, MS PowerPoint
Duties:

The Boardman to Hemingway Transmission Line Project (Project)is an approximately
300-mile-long, overhead electric transmission line with ancillary facilities.
The transmission line runs from the city of Boardman in Morrow County, Oregon,
to the existing Hemingway Substation, in Owyhee County, Idaho. Roles and
responsibilities for the Project Archaeologist involve review of survey reports
and site documentation for accuracy and compliance with the Section 106
Consultation process. The Project Archaeologist advises BLM leadership and
Project Manager on policies and regulations related to the NHPA and BLM
responsibilities. The project Archaeologist provides guidance on eligibility
determinations for BLM leadership and BLM Project Manager and performs periodic
field inspections during surveys and while construction is in process. The
Project Archaeologist works daily with the BLM Project manager and coordinates
and interacts with the Project proponents Archaeological staff regularly.

Travel Requirements: site visits, meetings with contractors
Overnight travel: approximately 20%
Air travel anticipated: depending on individuals location when selected.
Rental cars: depending on individuals location when selected. GOV issued
pickup truck will be provided once individual arrives at district office in
Vale.
Health and Safety Considerations: Defensive Driving
Required Safety Gear: leather boots provided by individual. Other equipment
will be provided by the BLM (ex. personal locator device,
Safety Gear Use: broken uneven ground during field inspections
Physical requirements: Position is primarily sedentary with the majority of
work requiring the individual to sit at a computer. About 20% of the time will
be spent in the field in hot dry dusty conditions
